Game of Thrones made me laugh but I understand why it's on the list....but Sherlock...? Everyone should see Sherlock before they die?

It's a fine show....but don't go out of your way for it. Kind of crazy it's anywhere near BB or The Wire

We take things like and and paper for granted but those are pretty decent metrics when you're storing information by hand

Perhaps broody was the wrong word - it's like....a middle schooler's favorite dark cartoon character.

Who the hell tries for that

I've never felt so strongly about a building positively or negatively. The first time I saw it was in a documentary with the host fawning over it and it drove me to rage.

Like if you took any one feature, it's all right. A building with an elaborate entrance is neat...but it's like design vomit. A million disconnected ideas mashed on top of each other.

"Too busy" would be putting it nicely. I fuckin hate the Sagrada Familia lol

"Roadwork ahead? Yeah, I sure hope it does"

Pretty much any funny vine is better than the Sagrada Familia to me. I think it's gaudy and hideous.

If I were his God, I would now allow Gaudi into my kingdom of the afterlife after seeing that melting sandcastle abomination

He took a beautiful song and made it broody and corny as fuck. I don't get the appeal, either.

And the music video.....

[โ€“] glimse@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Saying "often" just adds to my point. Sometimes the art IS the effort and yes, it usually takes a ton of it to make truly beautiful art....but effort is just not a requirement. Less effort doesn't automatically equal worse art.

Art is also completely subjective and OP is presenting their opinion as a universal truth. If more effort makes you like something more, that's cool. But effort is not what makes art. Art is whatever makes you feel something.

There's Vines out there that I think is better art than the decades-long Sagrada Familia, which is (imo) the ugliest structure in the world.

Exactly. If the Dems didn't feel obligated to change after Clinton vs Trump, I feel like 2028 won't be any different. They need to realize that all they are - and have been since I started paying attention - the lesser of two evils.

They need to understand that for the majority of us, we vote blue not because we like you but because we really don't like the other candidate. RCV would crush the Democrats.

[โ€“] glimse@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'm pushing for RCV in local elections. This is a change that needs to happen from the ground up and won't happen overnight but people really think that trying to convince internet strangers not to vote for two months every 4 years is the solution.

Where are you, Jill Stein? I guess campaigning for Putin really takes it out of you so you deserve your 44-month hibernation

I just moved into this house and was back there to think about what to plant and was quite happy to find this. It's behind a big pine tree and I can't see it from the windows or patio. I was just back there a week or two ago so it was quite a surprise.

I think they came from my neighbor's yard. But the interesting part (to me) is it's the neighbor on the opposite side and there's no peonies in between.

I might get some more and turn that area into a flowerbed with some ground cover.

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this (feel free to point me to a better community) but I'm in a weird "predicament" this summer: My AMD build plans are in shambles after receiving a free ROG Astral 5080.

Now I want to make the switch now with my current (Intel i7-13700K) hardware + this new card. I was only considering AMD before but it's really hard to say no to a video card worth more than my entire budget lol

The slightly worse performance compared to Windows is still an upgrade from my 3070 so that's fine - It's initial/recurring troubleshooting I don't really want to deal with. Most of the info I've found is from earlier this year and no one speaks highly of the beta drivers

Sorry if this is a stupid question but am I setting myself up for disappointment with this new plan? I have a few more related questions I'll toss in the comments but that's my main concern.

I feel like it's just marking the report as Read...is there not a way I can remove a comment from this page?

Do I have to go to the post and scroll down to find it every time? There's a huge backlog of reports from before I got asked to mod

Didn't see any grass in the camera after crashing...so why won't it lift off?? Oh..

Original mod had the same idea as me (get an fpv community going) a year ago but hasn't been active since

Just made a post there: https://lemmy.world/post/29489997

I was pretty into flying back when whoops were new but stopped for financial reasons. Recently, friend got his license and I caught the bug again watching his videos.

Got this Mobula7 and have been having a blast. My old box headset has an awful receiver but I got a crazy deal on some Fat Sharks that should be here soon.

I also just moved to a place much better for flying - I can fly to a park without passing any private property.

I've been binging Joshua Bardwell's videos and, of course, already thinking about what I want to buy next. Thinking about a monitor or a second cheap headset for other people to watch.

I haven't geeked out this much on a new (or rediscovered) hobby in awhile and instead of spamming my friend, I decided to post here and maybe get this community going.

Anyone else on Lemmy into quadcopters/FPV?

Do you think we could get an "About Community" button on there, too?

Forgot I had to give my dog an unexpected bath yesterday and used all the clean towels

Example comment

It renders correct in a browser but all the line breaks are replaced with a weird symbol in the app.

Not a big deal or anything but I wanted to share!

~~None of them do anything~~

Now they do! If you're getting the same issues, update to the newest beta

I have a "flexible" WFH schedule which means I'm almost always working from home. Today, I've been lured in with an NDA breakfast with a manufacturer.

So you know what that means: 1 hour of "yum I love breakfast sandwiches" followed by 6 hours of "why did I think that would be worth the drive?"

My friends and I were active Twitter users up until it got sold and the only reason my account isn't deleted already is because I have a LOT of memories there.

I looked into downloading the tweets.js archive but that seems to be only what I wrote, not the original tweet if it's a reply. Having the full conversations that led to in-jokes is what I'm after!

I understand why this would be very complicated and to add to that, half of our profiles are set to private so The Way Back Machine and other public services won't work. Media would be nice but it's not a requirement.

Does something like this exist?
