Believe in Truth (infosec.pub)

Fascists despised the small truths of daily existence, loved slogans that resonated like a new religion, and preferred creative myths to history or journalism. They used new media, which at the time was radio, to create a drumbeat of propaganda that aroused feelings before people had time to ascertain facts.

And now, as then, many people confused faith in a hugely flawed leader with the truth about the world we all share.

Post-tuth is pre-fascism.

Inspired by the P-Bandai iron-blooded coating kits, I decided I could make my own and do it better. I used the ZeroPlan Wolf Claw kit as well.

As per title, I visited a price comparison site this morning, and within a minute (I think less than 30 seconds) got a dodgy text to use 'their' site. I hadn't even chosen a category. This site takes peoples home addresses, phone numbers and other info.

Is the site hijacked/infected or is my phone?

The site is bonkers.ie a site in Ireland for comparing prices of broadband, electricity or TV etc. Link to screenshot of text as I can't upload on Lemmy because of VPN.

I have a reoccurring issue when there's a new graphics driver update through the PopShop. Once the update begins the screen goes completely black and doesn't come back on.

Usually I wait a while and then I have to force shutdown the computer and then afterwards (if the driver finished updating) everything is fine.

Anyone know a workaround for this or some better solution?

It's not just London either. I saw about 20 people marching down my road today with UK and England flags, and we're in a little seaside town hundreds of miles away from London. There must be protests like this going on all over the country.

Good news, everybody!

It’s a strange time for the US economy. Prices are rising, jobs growth has stalled, uncertainty is everywhere and stock markets have soared to record highs. Against this background a scary word last used in the 1970s is being uttered again: stagflation.

I've always found C++'s "trend" of handling normal or non-exceptional system errors with exceptions lackluster (and I'm being charitable). Overall trimming things down to (basically) passing around a couple integers and telling the user to check their manual is much better, much less error prone, and much more efficient and deterministic.

So we have a pear tree in our back yard that decided this was the year it was going to successfully bear fruit.

Its been extremely dry and we've been away a lot so I haven't cut the grass in about 8 weeks. I didn't even notice the tree had ripe fruit on it until yesterday. Stoked to check it out I walked over to pick some and noticed there's about ten full grown pears rotting on the ground below the tree that are just absolutely infested with wasps.

The tree is near our fence with the neighbors so I gotta deal with this fast so they don't get overwhelmed by wasps.

Does anyone know of a safe way to approach this? I broke my ribs and fucked up my back on a dirt bike last weekend so I can't exactly do anything that requires quick reactions or running away.

Any ideas would be super helpful 🙏

Governments around the world are enacting measures to try to protect workers from the dangers of heat stress. They’re barely keeping up with the risks.

And all service providers/hosts around the world are expected to comply.

Here's one summary of the looming access control measures.

Reading and understanding all this (and the linked sources) feels so.. difficult, obtuse, complex.
