I am shocked by this - the quote in below is very concerning:

Can't see myself using this software anymore...

Lost Odyssey, certainly the first thing that comes to mind. Developed by Mistwalker with Hironobu Sakaguchi behind it.

I would need to know more details on your use case to say for certain, hard to know for sure without knowing the apps in question.
