Yes it does. I even host a forgejo instance where you can only login via SSO and it works perfectly!

Edit: sorry, got my wires crossed with idp and SSO. But yes, forgejo can also act as an idp.

Well I was thinking with this proposed system of having runs just loop the last round they got to, it wouldn't be fun to do another run with the same strategy just in the hopes it gets better luck.

Funkwhale seems really interesting and I'd love to be able to listen to music without relying on a company's servers and getting tracked, and not being locked into that corporation's apps, but music specifically is just so hard to justify switching. I use YT music and it has access to soooo much music, and the recommendation algorithms are useful in letting me discover new music. There's just now way I'd be able to transition from something with effectively access to all music in existence to something with none. I kinda wish there was some service that could discover all videos tagged as music on YT, add them to funkwhale without downloading them, and then allow them to be in search and radios and stuff and just download the song with youtube-dl or something the first time they're requested. Ideally with some way to trim outros and such manually. I know even the first step of this (discovering "all videos" on YT) makes this completely infeasible though.

This comic reminds me of a classic argument used for leftist policies, unrelated to ayn rand though. Under capitalism, technological advancements are harmful to the working class because companies are likely to keep pay and hours the same, and just scale up production and/or lay off surplus labor force.

Under a system where the workers own the means of production, those same advancements could go towards lowering the hours of the employees without lowering their pay, or if they decide to scale up production then it would mean more profit that the company could decide democratically what to do with, making it likely to result in pay increases for the workers. Point is it wouldn't just go into the hands of the capitalist class, but rather stay under control of those who labored for it.

Yeah, I'd never vote for the Republican party but holy shit I'm going to pressure the DNC to give us a non geriatric candidate every moment I can. I will criticize the failures of the Democratic party so loudly and publicly because that's the only (non violent) way to get them to change. We need a better candidate, a better party, and a better country. I'd encourage everyone to send a message by telling polls they're uncommitted.

Both China and Russia have also called for cease fire. Stop justifying us spending ungodly amounts of money to bomb children. The US is actively engaging in arming a genocide despite the majority of its population supporting a cease fire. It's not complicated, it's clearly Biden supporting the industrial military complex over his own constituents. This horrific act is all for some rich assholes to become slightly more rich. It's unjustifiable.

This question makes me think about the games by Proton Studio Inc. I've enjoyed several of their games, including their 2 incremental games, Time Clickers and Time Warpers. They are both 3d games but with a fairly simple voxel aesthetic, and are fun to play actively/in the foreground, but provide mechanics to allow you to progress while idling.

In my opinion, the idling while still rendering all this 3d stuff feels awfully wasteful, but I do really enjoy the time I spent actively playing. And I think that's what it ultimately comes down to - 3d can definitely be used to build engaging mechanics that are really fun, but if you go that route I'd actively discourage implementing idle mechanics (the genre has enough examples showing that you don't need them, anyways!) or at least make it a separate mode where all the 3d stuff isn't consuming resources.

As far as the notice goes, I'm not going to kid myself and pretend it'll solve video games addiction for anyone that plays the game. I'd be happy if it just increased awareness tbh.

I think it's interesting that within the community, games kinda get treated as if the more abstract they are, the more "pure" they are, like a game is less incremental if it puts effort into anything apart from the gameplay itself. Narrative, graphics, and sound design are almost treated as negatives.

I was going to lead into saying that the "pure" games are probably more likely to fall into manipulation rather than genuine fun, but as I was writing it I thought about how loot boxes, which are obviously manipulative, use flashy effects to make them feel more rewarding. So I don't think it's the presence of those things that makes a game more genuine fun either. Honestly I just have a hard time finding where the line is, beyond "I know it when I see it".

I hope y'all don't mind the more serious/critical topic of this post. I plan on keeping most of them positive, but I think this is an important topic to discuss within the genre.

I don't think what the democratic party does counts as just compromising. They often expand the awful systems they inherit, or at best just fail to revert the bad policies of their predecessors. There's a reason for the ratchet theory to exist, or the saying that democratic policy is just Republican policy on a 1 election cycle delay. Just look at our foreign policy - Obama massively increased drone strikes under his term, to say nothing of the atrocities Biden has been funding and providing arms for in Gaza. Why did Obama promise to codify roe v wade on the campaign trail, only to make no efforts when in office? Why did Biden do the same? Why are they now calling for voters to vote blue in November so roe v wade can be reinstated when we already did vote blue, and the guy we'd presumably be voting for is already in office? If Biden as president is all it takes to reinstate roe v wade, why the fuck hasn't he done so yet?

Honestly for all the infighting, I think plenty of leftists would agree over common ground and change tons of things so long as they're going in the correct overall direction, despite the specific details being so contested. But they attack the DNC because the DNC is not progressive in any way shape or form, it's neo liberal.

That's a good point, rpg maker does often fall into the "you can recognize a game was made in it" definition, especially if they use any of the stock assets, but much less so than you can immediately tell if a game was made in TMT, for example.
