This would be a fantastic way to prank an older colleague in tech.

"My.. SSD.. is making spinning disc seeking-clicks?"

Personally I'm happy with LED activity to show me when the HDD is being flogged, don't miss the clicks - but this is a fun project that I'm glad someone did.

CD-RW was generally more of a gimmick than a useful format - especially once flash drives appeared and then doubled in size every several months.

CD-R was king for burning audio CDs or general data (until DVD-R came along).

There will be a bit of whining from the more vocal faithful, as there always is, but I don't think that this time is the time they'll really turn against Trump when they're already 11+ years brainwashed and have accepted and *'art of the deal'*ed his backtracks and flip-flops so many dozens of times in the past.

It's a cult and Trump is the cult leader. They won't stick firm to their demand for the files, because the great orange one has told them that demand isn't important anymore and is giving them new things to focus on. Epstein's files aren't core to their identity, but MAGA and Trump are - one will give.

Its either admit they were fooled and reassess their critical though process and political choices, or pick someone to blame for tricking them and shoot at them - so yeah it's likely.

Its the NSW police. They're jealous that this shopkeeper can display images that are clearly parody, while they can't display similar images in their private lives in earnest.

She'd be a zombie so you should care, as your next trip would be to the pharmacy to get some antiseptic creams.

Legislation sounds very positive for the environment. The article does say that shooting ranges are exempt as they have lead/bullet recovery systems in place and this legislation is more about protecting waterways and forests from being (further) polluted with lead shot. Military and police are excluded probably for the same reason as almost all their shooting is on-range.

The article doesn't mention and I was hoping someone knows - what's the common alternative metals used for rifle rounds and shotgun shells? Steel balls for shotguns?

Does it make a big difference to shooting/ballistics, as the alternatives would be less-dense than lead?

Great work, without reading what it was I thought it may be a still from a Ninjago movie/series at first.

Its not real so empathy is irrelevant?

Its not a joke about wordplay because if you take away the dark humour context - the loss, the reaction of the mother - it's got nothing other than 'lol a word has two meanings'.

If the mum was cut out of the last panel - then yep you could pass it off as absurdist humour, but as it is I don't think thats fair, an easy out - the humour relies on her reaction. I appreciate you engaging as I thought it was an interesting conversation, but most have really taken it to heart it and attacked me for finding a comic distasteful. Counter opinions are very unwelcome here like most comms on Lemmy. My last reply about it but I did want to thank you if but to disagree politely. 👌

"Dmitriy Kurashov is the first Russian soldier to stand trial in Ukraine for an alleged battlefield execution."

Hi all.

First, thanks for reading. I'm not exactly sure if this is the correct location to raise a concern about a ban/deletion, but I guess it's as good as any.

So:

  1. I dont know which mod it was. Log is redacted?
  2. post deleted & banned from the [email protected] community
  3. screenshot of modlog attached
  4. screenshot of comment attached.
  5. It was an appreciated post with 106 upvotes 26 downvotes at deletion and several positive responses yesterday. When I came back today (I'm in Australia so timezones..) the comment was deleted and I was banned - and several negative comments have appeared which I would have liked to respond to.

Original post: a news article about Proton Mail.

My post: Essentially I took the time to read the article and included the quotes of what was written by the CEO that was being discussed in the article - as many in the comments had surprised me by jumping straight to him being a literal Nazi. As not a single other commenter had included the quotes to discuss the source, I thought that would be a valuable contribution. I also gave my opinions which you can see in the comment on the modlog, the formatting is messed up so I included a screenshot of the (recreated) comment. https://lemmy.world/modlog/1347

What I didn't notice was that the article writer had omitted the first part of the Twitter post from the CEO in her quotation of him - so I quoted her, and in doing so missed the context that the CEO had actually started "Great pick by @realDonaldTrump" at the start - which does of course change the context of his Twitter post to praise. This was clarified for me in the angry responses. I would have edited my comment and owned my mistake, however stood by the rest of the comment regarding Proton's official follow-up.

So, is that deletion and ban fair?

Update 10 hours later: contacted a mod directly to see if i can find out more about the ban or perhaps get it remedied.

Update 48 hours later: contacted the entire mod team, and got back feedback from several of them - all helpful. My post has now been undeleted, and my account unbanned from the News community 👍
