I liked posting a picture here so I think I will try to do it weekly :)

This is what the dawn of January 1st 2025 looked like for me. We've slept in my van through the night to get this view. The temperature was about -20℃ but it was worth it in the end.

The flats in the picture is the frozen Lake Paravani and the mountains are the Samsari ridge.

Was cleaning up in my picture archive and came across this one. Had to do a reverse image search, as I had completely forgotten what the subject was about. Then I found some relevant articles, here's one:

An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan on March 11, 2011, and this picture was so orderly and serene compared to the other ones from the disaster. Which is probably why I decided to save it.

She was SO brave, y'all. I think it was the big ol pep talk I gave her. She did the "it's gonna eat me" dance at the hose, but eventually relaxed enough for me to get a lot of the dirt off. She didn't stop moving the whole time, but wasn't unmanageable. I'm so proud. I had to tell literally everyone I saw because it was such a big deal.

Sandy is still very dirty, but is considerably cleaner now. Next goal is to introduce soap lol. Her owner has some really nice horse shampoo and conditioner stored in the tack room that I'm gonna use.

It also started raining as soon as we were done, so we couldn't get any cute pics outside. I was gonna hitch her to a post inside for pics, but I was asked to help treat an infected hoof on another horse and that took a while.

Black Walnut (sh.itjust.works)

This Black Walnut is quite old. I didn't have a measuring tape with me but I would guess nearly 150 years. It has marks from a barbed wire fence that was here when this woods was a pasture decades ago.

A while ago we decided on rule 2 where the community overwhelmingly voted to ban political posts. There are already 50+ other communities where people can discuss politics but the past few days !pics has had many low-effort politics posts which is overshadowing the entire point of a pics community. Where are the mods?

One of several sneaky beaky photos of Border Patrol agents from roughly 1/2 mile away.

I planned to tack Sandy up and work with her while she was wearing a saddle, but she decided to canter around the round pen when I took her out for grooming and she even jumped over some mud.

She tired herself out very quickly.

I also played some music while we were hanging out and she seemed to like it.

She got visibly upset when I rode around another horse after I was finished with her training and grooming and the barn chore I do to get to ride for free lol. I made sure she got a cookie to know she's still my fave.

Since today is my first cake day, I've decided it's time to post instead of commenting. This is a picture I took last month on my phone through binoculars. Taken from Gomismta, the mountains you see are the Main Caucasian Ridge.
