Awesome. I love Caesar 3. Guessing this takes inspiration from that?

Sorry, I'm not the artist :)

Thanks for the review. I'm leaning towards buying one during summer if I have some cash left!

Thanks! I hear a lot of people complaining about the ergonomics. So it isn't uncomfortable to use for lengths of time? Apparently they haven't released their own official grip yet either, so I might wait until they do.

The Retroid Pocket looks awesome. I've been eyeing a Steam Deck, but tbh I'd have my fun cut out for me with just a retro handheld that can emulate stuff up til Gamecube. Do you like it?

Yes, DRM discussions doesn't need to be piracy-related nor illegal. But it was primarily for me to collect my topics surrounding DRM, but evidently many others were interested in it too

I've never tolerated alcohol well so for me it's just as bad now as it was when I was a teen. I just get sleepy which makes me want to go home at 12 and the day afterward I spend half my day puking, even after just a couple of beers.

I get you but tbf I'd never want to use my Boox Page as a tablet haha. If you're worried about distractions, I think the e-ink and it's refresh rate will pull one back to reality quite fast. I find it impossible to be distracted by anything on there that's not related to books or manga. But I'm super happy with my Kobo Libra 2 as well. Did you mean that one? They do have Sage in B/W still.

On a Boox or a Meebook which runs Android you can just install the Wallabag app, but KOReader has good support too. The downsides to the Android readers are that the battery life is worse and the setup a bit more complicated.

I run 2x 1440p monitors at 165hz and 144hz fine

Finally there are some more methods to tackle LCP DRM, but the messages to the creator from Readium consortium is so frustrating. Just read this:

"We were planning to now focus on new accessibility features on our open-source Thorium Reader, better access to annotations for blind users and an advanced reading mode for dyslexic people. Too bad; disturbances around LCP will force us to focus on a new round of security measures, ensuring the technology stays useful for ebook lending (stop reading after some time) and as a protection against oversharing."

It seems like every manga or anime adaption nowadays are isekais with absurdly long titles. As someone who hasn't read that much manga for the past few years but just started again, it's kinda crazy to see all these pop up. Are there actually any good ones out there? Or are most of them just "guilty pleasures"? The only one I've been reading is Ascendance of a Bookworm which is kinda interesting.

Edit: got a lot of recs, thanks everyone :)

大家好!Due to the previous mod being inactive, I requested to overtake the moderation of this community. I'm usually not the person that likes to moderate, but I like the fediverse and I like Chinese, so it'd feel bad to let this community be ignored. As long as there aren't a huge influx of new people, I'd expect and hope that there won't be too much that I'll have to moderate. If that's the case, I'd gladly take any help that's offered (or maybe someone wants to act as an extra mod already?).

And as for me, I have studied Chinese for a couple of years and I've also lived in Taiwan. My interest in Chinese mainly comes from appreciation of the language itself as well as ancient Chinese culture, religion and poetry. My nickname on here actually comes from the Tang poet Wei Yingwu 韋應物. I'm far from fluent but I hope to keep up this lifelong journey :)

I hope to see this community keep growing!

No more direct source unfortunately. From my research these were scanned from a print magazine.

The mod seems to have last posted over 1.5 years ago and I've tried DM:ing, but maybe someone on the administrator side can check last log-in. If the mod isn't active I'd like to take over the moderation of this subreddit, as a long time Chinese enthusiast. I've been trying to keep up the activity on there. I also have some smaller experience moderating and I'm currently a mod of [email protected] and [email protected]. I know the limitations of being a federated mod, so I'll create an alt on lemmy.world and add them later as moderator if I get access to the community.

Thanks for your assistance :)

Edit: Bonus requests for communities that have the same mod and that I could help to moderate: [email protected], [email protected]
