Sure
I've got a Palma. Love it.
Like others here, I keep wifi off while I'm reading and only turn it on to update my Omnivore articles or update my saved position in a book (using Kindle or Kobo apps).
I have no idea how the battery holds up for the people who are trying to use it as a phone (ie using it a lot for browsing or chatting and other battery-heavy apps).
I just wanted a phone sized eReader that could let me install apps other than just a bookstorr. The Palma fits that bill wonderfully.
I can't play anything that requires precision aiming with a controller.
A Steam Controller though? I'm way better. Especially with the gyro aiming or micro adjustments on the touchpads.
I know they are discontinued but as someone like you who had a rough time with those types of games without a mouse, I'd see if you can find a steam controller on ebay or something.
But I don't play FPSes at all any more really. And with games like cyberpunk, I'm always more stealth than action oriented so it hasn't been a problem. And when I have to use a normal controller and am forced to aim, I heavily rely on aim assist settings. I don't care 😂
Personally I stopped custom roms a while back. I'm not hardcore in the anti-google camp though.
If you are, obviously custom roms will be all you should be looking at. Tons of good recommendations in this thread already.
If you're not in this camp though, the default pixel experience has been great for me and might be for you. I find it the least annoying of the oem experiences (not cluttered in features I'll never use, simplified settings menu where I've never had to use the search on since it all made sense etc).
I'd say use the stock rom for a few weeks. If you hate it, custom roms are always there for you.
I'm not sure how this with this community at all. This community is about old games not as a place to highlight new games or post dev updates, sorry.
I'm going to lock this
