I don't know specific products, but ANSI does puncture resistance certification. You could use those ratings to find something comfortable that isn't snake oil

Of course, the world population was probably less than a quarter of what it is now, so a higher percentage defintely died. Probably because of the relatively crappy health care at the time

Phragma means a divider. My guess is someone was saying these tiny bugs are extremely (mega) separate (phragma) from their relatives.

There is a difference between pain from an injury and muscle pain from excercise (DOMS). The former should be treated like a real injury where you give rest including very light exercise. Too much work could make the damage worse. The latter can be mostly ignored except for your own comfort.
