i don't want to detach myself from the current situation dreaming about the possible horrors of the future while sitting in the midst of a genocide, but i feel this is one of those things you kinda have to think about especially considering the scale of its consequences. this isn't a 'nothing matters we're gonna die in a nuclear war anyway!' kindveof here, this actually is something that we know will happen and are already seeing """""gradually""""" take form. my worries here are primarily the response to the migration. we are already seeing far-right governments take hold all over europe and the west in general and as material conditions worsen the need to further act on their racist class-obscuring rhetoric will increase as they push people into a genocidal frenzy, blaming their woes on the hundreds of millions if not billions of refugees. gaza will be as herero and nama genocide was to the holocaust. the chicken must come home to roost and we will see the methods pioneered by our imperialism brought home. no longer will you be watching a holocaust on your phone, because it will be happening right in front of you, or more accurately, to you.

don't think we should be wasting a lot of time pondering this considering the issues at hand but we have to at least prepare for something along these lines as i do not see a future different from the one i depicted being possible without a radical reconstitution of the west. which isn't an impossibility like some doomers seem to think but not within 10-20 years when it really becomes a problem. maybe our only hope is Hezbollah al-Biritaniu like in children of men

Update: I asked him more firmly about it and he revealed that it was a scheme. He says we're now married 14 times, or as he put it, "14 layers deep into marriage" (a quattro-decima marriage) and if I ever left him I'd have to divorce him 14 times for 14 different reasons to leave him and get out of all the marriages. I'm looking up if this is legal but can't find anything saying two people can have 14 separate marriages with each other.

I do love him 14 times more than the average marriage but I'm worried for his self esteem if he thinks he needs to do this to discourage me from leaving him.

Update2: I got kinda' mad at him and he proposed again, likely to distract me, and I couldn't say no. So 15 layers deep now.

In terms of theory, I don't consider myself well read. Theory is often really tough for me to read. Even with very easy-to-read writers like Michael Parenti, it's dense with mindblowing info. And things like the book Will to Change by Bell Hooks hits me in really raw feelings so I stopped at the first chapter. I need the easiest authors and their easiest-to-read works, or else I'm just not reading.

I had a moment looking at myself in the mirror, and realized I don't like the person I see. I've been trying to change this. Therapy, changing my diet to be more healthy, etc. I've taken 10mg of Lexapro for about six months and it didn't really seem to help, it just sorta put me into a weird headspace. So my Dr bumped the Lexapro down to 5mg, and added 75mg of Wellbutrin to the mix.

I've been taking it for 4 days. I'm tolerating the Wellbutrin fine, but my appetite is fucking gone. I'm no longer really craving the stuff I used to, sweets n salts, but my appetite in general is just fucking gone. I've eaten once a day for the last 4 days. I'm downing water, and unsweetened tea like it's the cure for cancer all of a sudden. I have always drank a good amount of water, during summer I knock out at least two gallons every day.

Today I drank 3.5 gallons of water, tea, Gatorade and pedialyte. And I'm still fucking thirsty. Yesterday I had almost the same amount, killed 3 gallons and maybe a quart more. Im not dehydrated, im urinating and it's clear, but I just can't drink enough. If I shake my stomach, I can hear the water sloshing.

What the fuck? Is this normal? Should I be concerned for something else? I'm not prediabetic, no cancer anymore, I've just had a shit ton of bloodwork done three weeks ago so I'm fairly sure it's not some undiagnosed condition. Anyone else take Wellbutrin, and have this happen?

Side effect, haven't had an edible in two days, so I may end up coming out of this completely sober too, which was unexpected but completely fine.

I am from Turkey and I was wondering if I should or shouldn't join a communist party here, I'm 99% sure it's fully controlled and I would be logged if I ever actually joined but I don't know

There are two options for me:

1. TIP (Turkey Worker's Party) is socially forward (pro-lgbtqi) but at the same time pro-west with Trotskyite tendencies, it also has 4 seats and 1.8% representation in parliament
2. TKP (Turkey Communist Party) is a party in not fully sure about, but they call themselves socialist patriots (basically nationalists) and base themselves off of kemalism (red flags everywhere) and they're less prevalent and not pro-lgbt, though they support anti-imperialism (in the way Lenin has explained the term)

They lack a page in ProleWiki and I need to do more homework on it, but I thought it would be nice to have a second opinion on it because I can be very very dumb

I'm open to hearing more and especially from my Turkish comrades that can help me out further

What are some things a self-proclaimed communist with some remaining liberal tendencies can read (watch/etc.) to understand what a communist should do and should never do? Besides the obvious stuff like not being a bigot.

I know becoming better is a personal issue and no piece of writing can automatically make you a good person, but I often find myself falling short of the ideal.
