Breaking Bad came out in the late 2000s and this was a time when being "politically incorrect" was epic - and by politically incorrect I mean just punching down and being hateful. Slurs for disabled people were used without any meaningful pushback, and at least in my experience, kids were happily reciting lines from South Park and Family Guy at school and mocking kids from SpEd classes. These things still obviously happen today, but now there seems to be more criticism of when it happens and even the "anti pc" crowd will hesitantly shut up if called out.

Anyway, Walt Jr. has cerebral palsy, but unlike much of the media of the time, he isn't the butt of the joke (aside from that one scene in the store but the bully got his ass kicked) or made cynically by someone who doesn't care or know anything about the disability to get a cheap emotional response from audience. Obviously he doesn't have an identical life to someone who is fully able bodied, but overall he's just a kid with his own angst and goals who just happens to be different. Sometimes he needs assistance, sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes his parents struggle to relate and help him (both for his disability and puberty in general) and that's just life, especially for a lower income family that doesn't have access to all the resources or free time to discuss problems.

I'm not surprised that they made :dean-malice: racist because he's a DEA agent, but rewatching it I'm surprised they didn't make Walt Jr. a caricature because most people wouldn't have bat an eye.

Maybe it’s because I literally do not give a shit about the company or it’s products or customers. I just want money. In fact, I want the opposite kind of imposter syndrome, where I trick the people hiring me into thinking I’m much more qualified than I actually am get paid a shit ton more money. Yes I know C++, Pascal, Assembly, COBOL. Please pay me $500k.

Reed was arrested in March and was charged with:

• Second degree kidnapping, class four felony
• Child abuse - knowingly/recklessly any injury other than SBI, class one misdemeanor
• Menacing - threat/physical action/fear of SBI, class three misdemeanor
• Harassment - strike, shove, kick class three misdemeanor

According to court documents, all other charges, except for the child abuse charge, were dismissed.

A family member has alleged that Reed was the boyfriend of a woman accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a teen boy and continuing to contact him despite a judge ordering her to have no contact with him.

During court, the judge acknowledged that Reed was romantically involved with 31-year-old Kristen Wessel.

One of my relatives’ (almost) entire family works for Lockheed and Raytheon; the youngest also graduated from Harvard and votes Biden. Another relative works for the FBI. One is an oil executive. A few of them are landlords. A few of them are trying to become landlords.

Currently taking psychology for gen ed requirements and it’s like 90% girls (judging from the portal pronouns), and next semester and forward my only classes (for now) will be engineering. The upside of STEM classes is that everyone is awkward and usually keep to themselves, but I imagine women in these classes know this and don’t want a bunch of weirdos approaching them.

But anyway, I’d like to accomplish... something. Anything really. I’ve only had few relationships back in high school and they only lasted a few months (usually because people transfer each year). And pretty much all of those times the girls were the one approaching me. But, this is real life and I’m expected to make the first move. I’m fine with that in theory, but I just don’t want to come off as weird or desperate and I don’t really have any precedents to judge my behavior on.

And truthfully, I am terrified of women around my age. I can converse with women like 5+ years older than me, but any girls 3 years older or younger than me I usually hit a brick wall. I’ve had female friends before and never had problems with talking to them since I didn’t have any feelings for them, but everyone in college is just so good looking and experienced I feel like I’m out of their leagues.
