honestly it's pretty interesting to see the narratives around automation of programming play out in an industry with such little class-consciousness. But it does feel like it's really highlighting contradictions and tensions between management and engineers in a way that's forcing some reckoning. Combined with current economy + trumpism, might be creating some amount of attitude change

Isn’t it good for the US if oil price rises, being a net exporter of oil? (I’m a dumbass so probably wrong)

Wonder if Israel is in the process of blowing a hole in the Rafah border rn to push the Palestinians into Egypt. Seems like they would use the chaos of Iran retaliation to cover their genocidal endgame for Gaza

Overly academic, but a good article on how to think about AI risks vs the usual media hype bullshit.

tl:dr; authors predict slow adoption, risks are the usual capitalist crises being exacerbated and defence against these are the usual ones (collective action, regulation etc). We can just pull the plug out of the superintelligent skynet.

The Al Jazeera doc on Oct 7 that was being promoted last week. Similar analysis to that done by Electronic Intifada, Greyzone etc, but good to see mainstream reporting.
