Host Kareem Rahma said he felt like it would have cost Harris the 2024 election

Kareem buddy you're gonna wanna sit down for this one

[–] [email protected] 33 points 5 days ago (1 children)

from what i saw, he clarified that he didn't want to be blamed for it by psychotic people, not that he thinks he has that kind of power in particular, or that she really had a chance otherwise.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 days ago

I know it's explained in the article but I thought the byline was funny

I’m torn on this, because “bacon is a spice” is equally likely to be something Kamala came up with organically because she’s that bizarre, as it is that her advisers came up with it as a cringe combination of 2010’s “le epic bacon” memes and that “is a hot dog a sandwich?” debate.

This makes a disturbing amount of sense. Did you work for KKKamala?

I mean, bacon is a spice was literally something said back then so. I know several people that said it.

Edit:

e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/kae06t/can_bacon_be_considered_as_a_spice/

They also sell premade "bacon bits" in the spice sections of some amerikkka grocery stores

starting to think dems stopped with the "republicans are weird" strategy because they realized kamala is also really weird

What's their excuse for not releasing it now? Protecting the Democratic brand?

[–] [email protected] 54 points 5 days ago

the last known copy is being held by the SCP Foundation for being lethally cringe

[–] [email protected] 31 points 5 days ago

I think he just finds it cringe and doesn't want to be associated with it lol

[–] [email protected] 49 points 5 days ago (1 children)

hate this guys content for its "x celebrity is so relatably quirked up" psyop

Rahma feared at the time that he would be blamed if Harris lost the election.

Probably correct

“Do you think that was her opinion, or do you think she got like a research group to try and figure something out,” Bertoni asked in a longer version of the clip.

“Research group, because originally the take that I was pitched was great,” Rahma replied.

her take? fake, because it was not his take wut

“It was that she does not like to take her shoes off on airplanes.”

??? thats not a take its basic courtesy

[–] [email protected] 22 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Bro Asian airlines give everyone slippers and everyone takes their shoes off. Keeping your shoes on during long flights is not good for you, at all.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

it just stinks like obvious engagement bait moreso than being a genuinely "weird" "take"

"Kamala: I don't like to take my shoes off" jokermala

"same I hate shoes removers send them to jail" libbing-out

"wait but I take my shoes off? actually, they do it on other airlines too" wojak-nooo

"nooo keep them on!!!" honk-enraged

which makes sense since it was the content creator that proposed it rather than being an actually held belief of Kamala's

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 days ago

"omg i bet trump takes his shoes off like ^this^ and wriggles his nasty little piggies ewww gross"

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 days ago

100%, engagement bait works on me far too often for my own comfort.

Fists with your toes, huh?

She's a weird alien person just like Trump is, just like Biden is, just like JD Vance is, just like Hillary Clinton is, just like George W. Bush is.

We can put words on top of the emojis? Science has gone too far

Damn this is some emoji evolution

[–] [email protected] 24 points 5 days ago (1 children)

u got me reading the source code of your comment to understand how u did that

[–] [email protected] 25 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Oh, I should explain so no one else has to figure it out by looking at a mess of links:

{bottom | top} becomes {bottom | top} with the cool mark up system we have!

Now you can just replace the bottom text with an emote or image... which may or may not be exploiting an oversight by the devs bleh

[–] [email protected] 25 points 5 days ago (1 children)

This discovery will revolutionise emoji usage

This is even better than if the text actually got into the bubble correctly

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Does it not for you? Here's what I've got on Windows/Firefox:

I tried on Chrome and Edge, and it just floats above the bubble. Glyph positioning is weird in the Chromium engine, I think.

Should be an emoji

[–] [email protected] 34 points 5 days ago (4 children)

TLDR: her take was "bacon is a spice." the host said this was something they changed it to before the interview, probably because some research team recommended it. When they originally booked the interview her take was supposed to be "I don't like to take my shoes off on airplanes."

Y'all take your shoes off on airplanes?

[–] [email protected] 24 points 5 days ago

think rich class seats, not the way we travel. when you have a little cubicle of your own, you probably do take off your shoes

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 days ago

I definitely have for overnight ones, yeah. I usually go and change socks in the bathroom to not stink

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 days ago (3 children)

All the Asian airlines I’ve ridden give you slippers when you get on tje plane, because wearing your shoes on a long flight is bad for your blood flow and can exacerbate the swelling you’re already going to get from sitting for that long. Long story short, yes, and so should you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

As a public service and self sacrifice, I will never remove my shoes on a plane.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

I feel that, for sure. I always make sure to shower right before leaving for the airport and wear loose fitting shoes to minimize sweat until I get on the plane. One time I even swapped socks mid flight just to be extra safe.

I mean I always wear slides to the airport, so taking those off isn't that much different from keeping them on. I wouldn't take off actual shoes though

[–] [email protected] 29 points 5 days ago

I doubt it would make a difference. People went out of their way to defend all the cringe pandering Hillary did like the “hot sauce” soundbite.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 days ago

He's hiding something. Kamala actually said "does the Narwhal Bacon at midnight" and he hid it in fear of revealing she's a redditor.
