/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Berman's fine.

You're a bit mean sometimes, Tenny

And for Chakotay’s arc, and for Voyager’s storylines in general, and for the time he wouldn’t let actual trans actors play in the TNG episode that was about trans folk, and for making nearly all the ladies wear skintight everything with corsets, and for…

The Mitch McConnell of Star Trek .... he just won't die or leave or give up office or just go away

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Mitch McConnell is no longer the Senate Majority Leader and is retiring at the end of his term.

Rick Berman: I can't die, I've still got Star Trek to ruin!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Hasn't he run all trek since TOS?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 days ago (3 children)

His involvement ended after Enterprise. From there, we've had JJ's stooge Alex Kurtzman. Kinda wish he'd drop out and inject Trek with some new blood. We'll see how Tawny Newsome does as a writer/producer for Academy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

I've no doubt in Tawny's abilities, but I do doubt she'll have enough power to prevent meddling.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 days ago

I love tawny, hope it goes well

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Maybe he just needs to ruin one more series before he can die.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago

Every Star Trek series he ruins adds another five years onto his life

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

He lives each day like it's his last (...day to ruin Star Trek)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

No, he was hired as a producer for TNG, then became Executive Producer when Gene died. He left the franchise after Enterprise ended.

Well you know what they say...only the good die young

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 days ago

Still alive at 78

Wait... How many years has the dude been 78? 🤔

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 days ago

At first I only saw the first two lines and I wasn't sure, but after reading the title I already knew where this was going. Thoughts and prayers.

Rick C-137 is a bit shady.

Astley seems fine

Come to my creepy basement

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Between the shit he had caused and the drek that is nu-trek, I've gotten lb to the point where I feel him to be almost a lesser evil.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What do you mean by "nu-trek"?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

NuTrek is a term that is commonly used in a derogatory fashion about anything Star Trek made after the last Kelvin movie. Often while saying at the same time that it is either "Bad Star Trek" or the typical whiny gatekeeping nonsense of "It's not Real Trek/Doesn't understand Trek", as if they somehow are the only ones who do.

Star Trek fans have a habit of screeching at the top of their lungs whenever anything new is added before gradually calming down and accepting it. People lost their mind over TNG, over DS9, over VOY, over ENT and over the Kelvin movies and now even the Kelvin movies are being looked back on more fondly.

Protip: If anyone ever dismisses the entirety of Newer Trek like this user just did? You can pretty safely dismiss them yourself because they just threw out 5 entire shows (and maybe 4 movies) while generalizing them all.

Also dude is just straight up arguing that Rick Berman, the guy who hated a woman so much the only way he'd allow her to continue being on the show was if he got to canonically write in that her original character was raped to death is "a lesser evil" because he doesn't like the new shows.

Just let that sink in. The people who blindly hate the newer Trek shows are so psychotically unhinged they're now like "Yeah, but the dude who abused everyone who worked for him is a lesser evil because I don't like the new shows."

I have less than zero respect for these people.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I appreciate your thoughtful and detailed response.
I was doing the "why grandpa, what do you mean by "those people" thing to bait them into some self-reflection, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference anyway.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

It never does. Only time seems to make any difference. They seem to forget why they hated it, watch it and get over it going "Huh this isn't as bad as I remember" and then pretend they never acted like it in the first place.

Give it 10 years and people will be offering me money for my Stamets username on like... everything.
