Well-known russophobe and nuclear war apologist "breadtuber" Adam Something attempts to make jabs at Russia being fascist in his community tab:

Hours later, the literal fascist genocidal empire of the USA produces this picture:

Just found it funny that he's trying so hard to paint Russia as the obviously most evil and fascist country and he plays the NATO apologism card (not in this post but he celebrated countries joining NATO as a response to the invasion of Ukraine), and the US just immediately hits him with the :i-am-adolf-hitler:

Also unrelated but god I love hexbear. It's nice being able to mention Russia without having to preface everything with a blanket condemnation of Russia's entire policy, living in western Europe is a freaking nightmare of freedom of speech.

Azov Something is a pathetic excuse for an urbanist Youtuber and a pathetic excuse for a human at that. He loves to use the community tab to soapbox about ebil Russia.

This comment from a couple years ago is what made me unsunscribe, and his subsequent episode with Well There's Your Problem is what made me unsubscribe from their patreon:

If you think the Soviets were worse than the Nazis, you are a nazi.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Daaaamn that's fucking wild, "the soviet liberation was actually worse than the Nazis" is one hell of a Nazi take.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Not that uncommon in the non-polish/belarusian/russian countries of the warsaw pact (and Finland).

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I knew about poles, is it really the case in Belarus?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Belarus was the most impacted by nazi aggressions and genocide - so while there are some libs that hate the soviets a lot, most do not believe in the both sideism thing.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Oh sorry, completely missed the "non" thing on your prior comment

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

no problem!

the mainstream take in hungary is at least "soviets were just as bad as the nazis". this in spite of the fascists murdering hundreds of thousands of hungarians, and the soviets... not. and i dont think this is a new take, i bet it was the mainstream take even in the 80s, under a socialist government.

"I agree we shouldn't have prevented WWII and the Holocaust because Stalin did a world war and Holocaust" is certainly a take.

Who would've thought that Hungarians aren't sending their best capitaldcolon

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I mean Budapest's public transit is excellent, I'll give the Hungarians that. They seem to be very good at producing fascists, however.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago

I mean Budapest's public transit is excellent, I'll give the Hungarians that

Isn't that simply the case in most big cities of Warsaw pact countries?

I’ve been meaning to unsubscribe from him for almost a year now, but it’s kind of sad. Believe it or not, Adam Something was the guy who kicked off my radicalization, eventually into a communist. His older videos dunking non techbros and talking about public transportation were eye opening to a younger me, showing how much different the world could be with minor, low tech solutions. I used to watch him all the time which likely gave the algo pets mission to start pushing me more and more leftist content.

He definitely has gone downhill though. His takes on the war in Ukraine are abysmal and I feel like every other post on his community tab is like what’s above. It’s sad because he was a very important piece in forming my politics, but it’s also past time for him to go.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I can relate to liking his former videos, hence the "breadtuber" thing in my post. They're very much non-theory based and very vibes-based, but they were in the right spirit when talking about public transit and so on. I immediately unsubbed and stopped watching any content when he started memeing about and promoting one of these

CW: violence and death"pay Ukrainian soldiers to write a message in an artillery shell" things.
That shit was fucking vile and dehumanizing

Holy shit I missed that. When was that?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

At some point during the first year of the war he started posting such things, I think in the community tab of his second channel "Adam Something Else" although it may have been in the main one, I don't remember very well.

CW: death and murderHe was sharing a video of Ukrainian soldiers writing "memes" on artillery shells and firing them at Russian positions, and you could go to a link he shared to pay and get a video of your message being fired.

Adam Something: A glass house and stones, together at last!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Not sure I understand what you mean, sorry, I'm not a native speaker. Care to explain?

[–] [email protected] 18 points 5 months ago (2 children)

English proverb that goes "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones"

e.g. don't talk shit when you have a lot to be criticized for

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago

Oh, that does make sense, thanks! meow-hug

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 months ago

I wonder if he ever learned what the word "administration" means.

Just because Elon did a Nazi salute doesn’t mean Russia itself isn’t fascist.

If we only look at domestic policies, Russia is arguably worse in every way than the US. Maybe America can catch up to them with 4 years of Trump/MAGA/GOP in power though.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 5 months ago

Oh no, I don't mean that Russia isn't on a fascist spiral. They're cracking hard on women's and LGBTQ rights internally, going full batshit religious with the orthodox leaders blessing the war and the soldiers, etc. I just meant that some western "leftists" will do everything in their power to present Europe as "the stronghold against fascism" just because it's currently opposed to Russian international policy, and will argue that Russia is worse than, say, the US or the EU, which it may be internally but not internationally.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

i think their housing policies and healthcare still are ahead of the US, but yeah

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago

First Pic before reading I legit thought was Susan Ivanova from Babylon 5 holding a kitty.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago

Russia is not good, but it is not good mostly in the same ways as the West, so western propaganda tends to grasp at straws, because otherwise people might notice that the West does the same shit but worse.
