It's definitely happening to zizek and it happened to bernie-pout and it's also happening, slowly and gradually, to my-hero . It's like the martyr effect in reverse: the longer they live, the more clownish they appear, even to their own followers. Is there a term for that?

All that "die young to remain a hero" talk feels like even more of Nolan's cryptofascist tendencies bubbling up as they often do.

I imagine most people in post primitive society had a phrase similar to what we're talking about, like only the good die young, seems to be an enduring theme throughout the stages of global human oppression that began around the foundation of fixed agrarian societies
