Every single girl I talk to on dating apps, no matter how long we’ve been talking or how well the conversation is going, always lose interest and ghost me when I tell them I’m a delivery driver. I know ghosting is pretty standard on the apps but I started to notice the pattern and it’s hard to deny that’s when they lose interest. It’s very frustrating.

I know it’s not the most impressive job and I’m currently training for something better but it’s a stable job and it’s money 🤷‍♂️ I’m a pretty open and honest person but it’s getting to the point where I feel like I have to withhold that information about myself so they can focus on me as a person instead of just what I do for work.

Hi everyone, I’d always been told “make sure you get it in writing!” and I have my manager’s confirmation in writing, but work won’t honor it. So now what?

Before I was hired I was informed I needed to travel for work. However, my visa was expired. My future boss informed me they’d reimburse the expense for the passport renewal. Now that ive started working, my reimbursement request has been denied, as they said it’s policy not to reimburse this type of expense, despite my manager telling me before my start date that they’d reimburse my passport renewal. So, what now? What recourse do I have besides complaining on Reddit?

Had some of the worst insomnia I've had in years and know I won't be able to sleep any time soon. Shift is in a couple of hours. I'd usually suck it up, but again, it involves a lot of driving. Is this a reasonable excuse to call out? Should I tell a fib and say I have a stomach bug?

We have been together for 7 years. When we first started dating we were friends and used to flirt a lot. And suddenly one day I asked him and we were together ( I still regret that day). Even if we were together it felt like he was not so serious about us. And like that time passed and gradually I started to lose interest although I loved him. And as time passed he became more serious about our relationship. Fast forward to the present day last few days my boyfriend went on a vacation with his colleagues and his absence made me realize that I was happy without him bothering me. During his vacation he didn't call me once to inform me about his whereabouts, Every time I called him one night I told him he then replied that he was too busy. Yesterday he came back from his trip and it feels like I really don't want to talk to him anymore. Talking to him makes me sad I was genuinely happy all by myself and now I don't know what to do. Please suggest

I've been on reddit for a month and I've noticed the immense amounts of posts in regards to people being unhappy their significant other hasn't proposed within 2 years, but more importantly I've noticed the advices given differ immensely towards a person in a long term relationship depending on whether or not they're married to their partner.

Person, married, together 8 years will ask "Partner wants me to do 50/50 childcare for their child from a previous relationship what do I do?" And the responses will be filled with "how dare you not view their child as basically your own child atp". While a person, unmarried, together for 8 years asks the same question, but gets a whole bunch of "You're not married, you shouldn't have to lift a finger for their child".

Being from a culture where marriage isn't seen as all that important anymore, it's baffling. What do people feel changes with a marriage certificate? Do people believe you can't be a family unit without it? Is your partner worth less before marriage? What's the deal?

I always think it's only a polite expression and you don't need to actually say that to the third person, cause ... it would sound a little bit awkward to me.

I really have no idea. I am not a very sociable person and terrible at reading the room.

Kermit the Frog isn't refered to as Frog, he's called Kermit. Felix the Cat isn't called Cat, he's called Felix. So, why isn't Winnie the Pooh referred to as Winnie? I know he's a Pooh Bear, and I know where the name Winnie comes from. I don't need that part explained.

One of my first jobs ever 12 years ago was at a Target as a janitor, worked multiple different locations. I've also worked at multiple Ralph's, Albertsons', and other less known food stores. One thing I've noticed over and over again no matter the location, was just how gross women's restrooms compared to the men's, except when it's comes to the employees restrooms in which case the women's is slightly cleaner. This has not only been my experience but I also remember a female co worker at Target complaining about how gross their restrooms are, they almost always look like some schizo having an episode just got done using them.

I find this to be the most effective way of clearing my nose of solids blocking my nasal passages. I obviously don't do this in public, I don't eat it, I dispose of it in a tissue, and I wash my hands. Would this still be frowned upon?

Been going to the gym off and on for years. Each gym I’ve been to I see a handful of guys make it a point to cut their shirt so narrow that their nipples are constantly out and they are sweating on everything without their shirt even catching it. Like why?

I'm not an American. As an outsider looking in, it's always struck me as odd that so much value is placed on weapon liberties. My question is why?

I'm not going to try to argue, I just want to understand what makes guns so important in the eyes of so many.

NOT listicle divisive junk like fashion and preferred text communication styles. I'm not asking about anyones pants here. Haha

Examples... In the US... I've heard that many millennials would get their drivers licenses usually as soon as possible or wanted to, whereas many GenZ seem less interested or delay it.

Milennials supposedly are more computer-savvy because GenZ grew up on tablets.

No idea if either are true, but it's made me wonder what else there is and if anyone else has heard this or what impressions people have?

So I feel like this question is taboo but it constantly nags at me. I am 100% on board with almost nothing being exclusively for male or female (gender norms or tropes) and 100% on board with bisexuality and homosexuality being great. What I get lost in is the “biological” man “transitioning” to be a woman. What does being a woman mean in this context? Wearing dresses? Liking the colour pink? Making 10% less money? Having a period?

Like isn’t there tension between “I always felt like a woman” and the very social constructs around that being essentially fabricated? Like yea turns out women can think and play sports and work and all the other stuff that was part of the social construct of “woman” in the 1920s or whatever for example. So when you decide to become a woman what is it you are becoming exactly? Because other than bearing children you can pretty much do whatever it is you think it means to be a woman anyways?

I totally support eliminating socially constructed gender norms - i am lost by the idea of just trying to trade one set of constructed norms for another. Like first of all wearing a dress and getting your nails done shouldn’t be gender specific, but second of all if you think that defines what it means to be a woman and as a man want to do it you actually can without “transitioning”?

Maybe I’m missing the bigger point or something but it feels like a lot of wasted energy that could likely be focused on removing biological sex as a relevant parameter in cultural and social norms rather than just trying to switch sides within them?

Like I get that I've always had FOMO growing up and wanting to fit in. And also have true friends.

Everytime on the internet when someone is saying their opinion on something they don't care about, why do I feel offended?

I don't care if they don't give a shit about a certain game or franchise. But I still feel a shred of sensitivity right after.

Is it because I sometimes get easily swayed by other peoples opinion (this has happened before), am I not firm on any of my own opinons or beliefs?

P.S I've been wanting to ask this question for years.

TLDR: Why do I feel like an average Twitter user when someone has an opinion? Especially when they say they don't give a shit about something. Why do I suddenly care?

Is this a normal thing that people experience?

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME??

My dad thinks I'm stupid for doomsday prepping. I don't prep for zombies or nukes. I prep for natural disasters and my dad always tells me nothing will ever happen. I always ask him in response that nobody was ready for the great depression, nobody was ready for the 2008 market crash. He asked me how much I waste on prepping, and I don't see it as a waste. I have probably 25 cans of food and 10 pounds of rice just in case the food trucks stop rolling. I have ways to make fire and shelter just in case my apartment has a fire and I have to leave. I know it's unrealistic to prep for zombies or full out war but I think my dad thinks I'm an idiot for trying to cover my ass now while I have money, than wait for inflation and natural disasters to cripple society. He doesn't say it like that or else he might understand where I'm coming from.

Am I the fool for trying to ensure I have food and water and shelter while I have money, or is he the fool for calling me out when he is right, I have never lived through a natural disaster but I personally think it's smart to have a bag full of food, water, shelter, and a way to make fire just chilling next to my nearest exit

I'm married for almost 20 years and have 2 kids that have just turned adult status, both 18 years. Over the years myself and wife have had some ups and downs, but we've always stuck together. When the kids were young my wife had an addiction to alcohol. But this was put down to previous trauma, she was abused by her father when she was a kid. The trauma continued throughout the years, and sometimes it presented as alcohol abuse, over the counter drug abuse, cutting and other forms of self harm.

Over the past 10 to 12 years I've been with her in counselling sessions, in and out of hospital and in and out of psychiatric hospitals. Nothing seems to be working and I'm completely exhausted with the situation. I feel like anything suggested by the health service is not working to help and I'm loosing my mind. With bills pilling up and me being the only source of income (both 18 year old at college) I feel like this is the end, as I find it even difficult to look at my wife.

Do you think getting a divorce help me get on with my life?

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Note: This is a throwaway account.

Boomer family member is absolutely baffled that people my age, 27, aren’t buying homes. Tried to explain but it didn’t click.

They bought their house in the Midwest at age 26 in 1986.

The "no taxation without representation" thing for employed 16 year olds always comes up. The way my government teacher explained it in highschool is that you are still represented by your parents.

I'm 22, I have a clean record and I live alone. What happens if I lose my right to vote?

this is so random but i was on the train the other day and saw a really wilted tree and i felt bad for it because. idk man, i was tired.

anyway, it prompted me to think about the similarities between humans and plants, resulting in me questioning whether plants can or do have disabilities.
