Yes I saw. Looks like they only addressed the example query I provided, and not all 'NOT IN' queries.. looks like I have to submit an issue for every query I find.

Ooh I have this album on vinyl (a re-issue of course), very good stuff!

Well the app is mainly written in PHP so some knowledge of that would be nice. Other issues we see are on database level, and I can troubleshoot that but some assistance would be helpful. And then translating the tuned database queries in the format they use in their php code.

I see you have set it as spotlight though ;-)

Well we run Friendica.World which is European but I wouldn't recommend registering there just yet, we first need to get performance issues fixed..

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I will see if I can find some time to troubleshoot further, but as long as the devs don't have time to solve the issues then we're kinda stuck.. unless we find some more php devs to help out..

I don't see that, can you tell me where you search and what you search for? Maybe add a screenshot?

It's configured to only search within tags, because otherwise the database will die. I will change that once the code is tuned for larger databases... But it shouldn't return an error.

I don't see another option than volunteer-run instances or professionally run instances. And for professionally run instances you need funds (so paid subscriptions) and for volunteer-run instances you need volunteers...

In my experience, as long as there are enough active users, you'll find enough volunteers.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

I'll look into that

Nice work. Good thing we can have communities migrated now.

I stopped self-hosting stuff that's for the family. In case something happens to me, no way my wife is going to keep this stuff running. And the kids are too young. So they would lose everything.

Family stuff goes in managed solutions (like Proton). Personal and public stuff is selfhosted.

Just something to consider.

Thanks! We're doing our best. But we also need the github issues solved by the devs. Or others with programming skills

At this moment, friendica.world is not stable. You can experience 504 or 503 errors, or just be unable to load the site.

This is being worked on. We'll keep track of the currently known issues in this post.

Database query tuning

One of the main issues at the moment is the database hanging with many inefficient queries running for minutes or even hours. Most of them are using an inefficient 'NOT IN' or similar construction. We've created an issue for that here: https://github.com/friendica/friendica/issues/14947

Also we've created an issue for many updates to a key-value table: https://github.com/friendica/friendica/issues/14948

I found this community te be without moderators. Is anyone willing to moderate the community, and maybe keep some content coming in?
