This pack of internal documents is an incredible primary source from the era where Sega was struggling to compete against the PlayStation. Sales figures, retail margins, marketing strategies, storyboards for TV spots, Tom Kalinske emails, frank assessments of recent and upcoming titles... there's so much in here.

Sprung for Dark Souls Remastered this morning, though I already have half a dozen other games on the go and it'll probably be months before I play it.

Yeah, it's not preservation in the way that preservationists use the word. Maybe we need a different term for this sort of modernisation process: game renovation maybe :D

Drawn a lot of enjoyment from the remake over the last week or so. It can, like the original, be obscure in its signposting, but I love the shot in the arm it's given to one of my all-time favourites.
