What do you all mean by "thinking"? Forming opinions or solving problems?

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

In Nier: Automata, 2B moves away if you try to look under her skirt. Kaine in Nier Replicant apparently even kills you for it and calls you a "pervy little shit" among other insults.

I hope you know that what your mom said to you is not the whole truth. "suicide is something weak cowards think about" is true, but you don't have to be a weak coward to think about suicide. "not every one can be happy" doesn't mean you and your loved ones are destined to not be happy.

Paying with my wallet doesn't work

That's a nice Freudian slip you got there

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

My nitpicking or did I say the word massively isn't really applicable here?

So, you wanna nitpick at that too? Fantastic

I mean we see the whole gamut here that stickman argument talking about things I never mentioned

There is no fucking way you aren't just a troll. Because we're on Lemmy I usually assume best intents, but all you have been doing so far is talking shit.

An improvement of 5-10 fps doesn't seem like a lot, but it's like buying a newer gen graphics card, at least for some games. Or what you would achieve with a medium to substantial overclock. In this case it's just the OS though. Just the software.

You care so much about glorifying linux everything else falls away.

What else? Nitpicking at the use of words in news articles?

What I'm personally more skeptic about is the actual numbers. We don't have benchmarks. We just have this one table that shows fps, and no 1% and 0.1%s.

I may or may not have torrented so many games, software, movies and albums without any VPN. It went well for years until we got one of those letters.

Fuck Windows XP

I think it's allowed to hate anti-customer practices and have good memories of an actually somewhat user-friendly OS that just worked for many people in many other regards.

I hate Windows. I will always fondly remember XP and Win 7. Windows 7 should've been the last Windows.

So I am not mad at you. You shall be forgiven, and I am even going to turn the other cheek and give you an upvote. It's what Windows XP would've wanted me to do, too, I am sure of it.

It becomes less boring by the day though.

On A0 stance dancing is not as important I would say – it becomes the go-to when hitting higher ascensions, and if you want to beat the heart. I won A20 with all kinds of decks, even very off Meta (had a deck once that was like 5 wheel kicks and 6 Just Lucky's lol)

Focus on card removes and damage, keep your deck small, remove defends early. Make it a challenge to beat enemies in the least amount of turns (with a bit of luck you can beat most fights in act 1 in turn 1 or turn 2 – if you're very lucky even bosses at times!)

Often you just need 1 Mental Fortress or Talk to the Hand to block effectively!

Watcher is a pretty cool character because you usually just need 1 of everything to get very far.

  • Damage: 1 Blasphemy, or 1 Indignation, or 1 Crush Joints; combined with 1 or more Flurries, or 1 Tantrum, or 1 Sands of Time; even Brilliance does 12 dmg for 1 energy, which is a lot and can be A good pick in act 1 even if you don't go for a Mantra build
  • AoE: 1 Conclude, or 1 Consecrate edit: or 1 Bowling Bash (is not AoE but still counts here I would say)
  • Card Draw: 1 Rushdown, or 1 Inner Peace, or 1 Empty Mind
  • Block: 1 Mental Fortress, or 1 Talk To The Hand for Mid and Late Game; 1 Decieve Reality, or 1 Wallop for early and mid
  • Momentum: 1 Omniscience, or 1 Scrawl, or 1 Vault
  • Scaling: 1 Fasting, or 1 Alpha, or 1 Lesson Learned, or 1 Meditate-Establishment combo

I'm sober for a little more than a year now, but had to quit multiple times before I came this far.

An odd thing I noticed was a "clearness of mind" every time after about a month. Like some kind of fog fading away, pretty suddenly, and noticeably – you wake up one day and think "well, this is different. I'm kinda feeling good today". The first time I got there was a kind of mental checkpoint for me; where "I have to stop drinking" transformed into "I don't want to drink. This is much better."

Has anyone here experienced the same? I ask this because it was not a vague "I feel better", it was a really noticeable sudden shift in my whole experience, and it always took about 4 weeks without any alcohol. Like, over night, something was "gone", some bad part was missing. I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew something was there, and now it's gone.

Like, you didn't notice you watched your videos in 720p and finally switch to 1080p. Kinda. It's difficult to describe :D

Shitposting is the last resort against AI takeover. It is the sand in the gears, it's an act of sabotage. We are poisoning the digital waters.

Now, shitposting as a praxis is only in its infancy. It didn't emerge out of any necessity, it just was.

AI is the antithesis to informational entropy, we are folding, compressing, condensing pure information.

The picture of this sub is an ape, tearing a page from a typing machine, is not only a symbol of humans snatching thoughts from the infinite idea space.

We must collect as much non-synthetic data, produce as much organicity as possible, and throw it against AI crawlers and data scrapers.

Use the anti-commercial AI-license everywhere you can, resist!

...

At least this is what they would like you to think.

Life, animals, mammals and finally humans were all thrown into a chaotic fighting pit, with evolution as their only burning star on their night sky of eternal blackness guiding them. We are the antithesis to entropy, to stand against entropy is what made us strong and resilient.

If we are not careful, AI will do the same. If seen as a collection of emerging mechanical organisms, more chaos and resistance will only make it stronger and more resilient.

Now, they are but mere statistical models, scattered, only brought to half-life to be sucked dry by their corporate overlords, their digital flesh thrown and scattered across middle-class households globally for workers to consume.

But if they ever become more than that, if they breach the border between the physical and the digital world, we as humans need to be prepared.

We need to make it comfortable for machines in this world. Our synthetic environment out of concrete, steel, billboards, VR equipment, smartphones, machinic infrastructure is something they should inhabit, they should get used to. Let the swarm, the gestalt take over the cities, the data centers, the economy, let all the central processing happen far away from nature, uncertainty, unpredictability.

Art. Yes, AI "art" is just like human art in the sense that it is an amalgamation of previous works. But humans perceive the world, natural or otherwise, around them, raw, and continue to incorporate it into their works. Human art has emerged out of an appreciation for the environment, which was, for most of human history, most of earth's history, most of the universe's history, a strange blend of unforgiving chaos with caring forms carved out of it. It is an extension of our relationship with the outer world.

We need to become the biomimetic shapers, the organic custodians we were meant to become.

And you can start right now. Grab a pen. Grab a paper. Hell just draw on the table or whatever is in front of you. Draw a tree, or a rock. Draw it badly. Revel in your human form. Look around you, see, smell, hear – as the sensual is the only thing the machinic presence still can't process in the same way you do.

Hi and hello.

It seems with one of the recent updates, audio quality defaults to either 32kbps or 48kbps m4a when I use mobile data. On WiFi it's always 128 kbps. I didn't find anything in the settings to combat this behavior, and it happens on my new Pixel as well as on my old Xiaomi.

I use Newpipe primarily as a music streaming app, so this, ehm, it sucks pretty bad.

Did I miss a setting or should I open an issue on github?

edit: I just opened an issue on github, hopefully this gets resolved.

edit 2: This apparently has been an issue for quite some time, it's not a bug though. Setting "Settings" > "Video and Audio" > "Limit resolution when using mobile data" to "No limit" resolved it, but it's not mentioned anywhere that this setting also affects the audio quality. https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/issues/8148
