Like, writing 5 full length replies about oppression in response to a guy's 5 word tweet (correctly) correcting a word. Or talking about how misgendering is more important than Gaza.

The worst thing though was when a bunch of "communists" replied to a right-wingers tweet about the USSR with agreement.

I can get Slammer's memes from the blog, so the only account I was mildly interested in is aldanmarki, who is suspended. Trying to look beyond that was a mistake.

Took a peek at Twitter. I saw a lot of self-proclaimed leftists acting like the conservative strawman of liberals. I hurry back to Hexbear.

At least 14 communists died, 67 government employees, and 428 civilians, but they just got a few arrests.

how tf did they get off so light

That's a little surprising, I would've thought the hull would've cracked. The satellite photos definitely implied it. I hope they're right!

aldanmarki still suspended on twitter :(

It's not just the thumbnail/vid, but also the things Hasan said in it. Look at Zed's reply to my comment.

Yeah, it was the compromise, my understanding is they wanted fewer people to complain about Hexbear, so now few see Hexbear.

And yes, .ee wasn't de-federated from us, but they de-federated from basically no-one. Load from them having to moderate arguments with Hexbear users has at least a little bit to do with the closure.

we set up some "Default Blocks".

:(

anyways, gl to the lemmee refugees

I mean, that's a fan channel, not him

Can anyone transcribe what the guy said? I can't really understand him.

Xenia, the fox girl mascot of Linux, was first designed in 1996 by Alan Mackey. She was meant to be an alternative to Tux, the official mascot.

She had fallen into obscurity, but was noticed by a Twitter user in 2019 and was redrawn as a fox girl. But as it turned out, Xenia was originally meant to be male! The original creator, Alan, was cool with this, saying "It matches the transition of a lot of the smartest, nerdiest Linux users I know" and "And sure, you made her trans!".

So now we have a trans Linux mascot. And I think that's neat.

A photo of the tote bag made for the convention.

Some nice, smooth, consistent quality. Better Call Saul was in my opinion pretty consistent. Single season anime is almost always consistent, like My Dress-Up Darling or Terror in Resonance.

Not dragging on longer than the series needs to seems to be a key point.

The photo is a 1974 photo of Leslie Feinberg, from the FBI file on hir. I've written a piece on my interpretation of Transgender Warriors and Trans Liberation, but I don't think it's quite polished enough, so I'll post it later. Instead, I'll go over hir FBI file: https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/dc-metro/rg-065/6282555/Batch0010/6282555_100-HQ-480756.PDF.

The FBI thought Feinberg could be violating the Communist Control Act, advocating the overthrow of the government, and engaging in rebellion. Needless to say, a hero to all of us. Feinberg was a member of the Workers World Party (the party still exists, but more notably PSL split from it), which apparently wasn't openly advocating for the overthrow of the U.S, they just think it's inevitable.

My favorite line? "captioned subject is believed to be a white female, who became male through some kind of sex change operation, and is possibly homosexual". Some interesting language choice, and it's an interesting snapshot into the evolution of Leslie's identity.

The FBI found Leslie's place of birth and birthdate from public school records. It's a bit of an interesting look into all of the many places the FBI can get their information, along with how information like that was so much more patchwork before the digital age.

"Interview of subject is not being recommended because of the questionable nature of his sexuality". Hmm, interesting.

It's interesting how their investigation spanned multiple cities, from Kansas City to NYC to Bufffalo to Boston. It probably involved quite a few officers, though I'm sure it wasn't the main focus for all of them.

There's some interesting mention about changes in Leslie's gender identity. Born a girl, for a time wearing a beard and mustache, then going back to "she". I'm sure we all know, Feinberg's gender didn't stop evolving there.

"Subject reportedly contributes all extra money to WWP", Leslie definitely was dedicated to the cause. Leslie doesn't attend NYC WWP meetings, but the FBI doesn't mention why.

The FBI isn't immune to typoes, Leslie did some "criminal terspass" that garnered some attention. They wasted some time checking if Leslie was in Boston, but verified where Leslie in NYC lived by pretending to be a part of the Voter Registration Commission.

There's a whole 43 pages of documents, all just from 1974-75. There's plenty of interesting tidbits in there, so maybe check it out.

psychosis (hexbear.net)

I've never had, like, permanent psychosis, and psychedelics/weed/"normal" drugs have never triggered it.

However, I have had it a few experiences, mostly down to stimulant binges. It usually starts off pretty innocuous, I just get a little jumpy at little things. Then gradually I start to get jumpy at things that aren't really there, mostly just things in the corner of my eye, some ghost sensations as well. I haven't ever gotten any full on visual hallucinations with this, and the tactile sensations don't feel too much like something crawling under my skin.

At it's peak, the big thing is auditory hallucinations. I hear people whispering behind doors, I hear music playing where there is none. It all sounds so real, and while I can make a little bit of differentiation, I can't really. I can usually tell when distinct voices are just a product of my imagination, but whispering is practically impossible. Even worse is the sounds that aren't human. Once, I was hearing the sounds that a computer program I have would make. I went and checked each and every single device with speaker that I owned, and it wasn't coming from any of them. And yet, I could still hear it. Very eerie. Tapping on my window, cars driving by that shouldn't be, bells and pops that don't exist. Another thing that I really don't like is the hallucinated gunshots, and what makes it worse is that once they were real, not imagined. I'm don't touch any weapons (not just firearms, but pepper spray or dangerous objects) when I'm high, much less when I'm like that, so it puts me in a bit of an unpleasant state of mind. Imagined gunshots are usually far off though, so it's not too much of a worry.

All in all, while interesting, it's an unpleasant experience. It's not really similar to psychedelic hallucinations (I've had some pretty powerful auditory hallucinations with those too, but it's really not the same). It's like a fever dream, but with none of the pleasant aspects. Getting psychosis from low doses of a deliriant would probably be more enjoyable, because then you don't have all of the other unpleasantness associated with staying up too long.

I definitely take effort to avoid it now, but earlier on my "usage" was a lot harder to manage, and it happened more often. I know my limits, and when to dose (even if I don't always follow my knowledge). Also, even just low level tolerance helps, because then the high doesn't last "forever". Sleep also gets a lot easier with tolerance and experience (experience matters, even after a relatively long T-break I keep my sleep skills). Being able to sleep just fine after two (very generously) to four hours after an oral dose of meth (oral ROA is the longest lasting, also I currently generally avoid other ROA's, as they are less safe) isn't unusual.

It's not something I would recommend, at all, but honestly I'm glad I tried it at least once (more than once is too much, though). It gives me a lot of sympathy for people that have similar symptoms more long term, in a way no art or description could (not that I wasn't sympathetic before, but I was basically walking in their shoes). Sorta like the inspirational moments a psychedelic experience can bring, but different, weirder, and perhaps more meaningful.

So, yeah. I'm not in psychosis right now, I just felt like sharing some clear neurodiverse connections to some of my SUD.

And floss too. If it's the evening, that's a perfect time to do it. If it's the morning, great time as well. Middle of the day? You've probably had food, brush them teeth. If you've recently (but not immediately after, wait a bit, drink some water) eaten, that's a perfect time to brush. Especially if you've recently had something sugary (avoid sugary stuff, also like I said not too recently).

And if you can, and haven't recently, see a dentist.

Your teeth are precious, and hard to replace. Lack of proper dental care can in many ways amount to a tax on the poor, where a lack of proper preventative care can turn mouths into an unaffordably fixable mess. Get people in your community to take care of their teeth too.

There's really only a few situations where you shouldn't be brushing your teeth right now: you vomited recently (brushing after vomiting can degrade the protective coating on your teeth), or you brushed recently.

Not having the equipment for it on you is only an excuse this once, carrying that stuff with you is a good idea. You eat and drink throughout the day, so you should brush and floss throughout the day. And who knows when you'll need to be presentable? You don't want to barrage your comrades, friends, partners, or "path to promotion" (your bosses) with bad breath.

Substance User Disorder (drug addiction, basically) is in the DSM. It has "atypical patterns of thought or behavior". So talking about it fits here, right? What should go in c/drugs and what should go here?

Anyways, I'm making this post in part because I've been taking longer breaks from meth. Four days between the last time I used and now (I am currently high, it definitely potentiates my posting powers). Maybe I'll actually commit next break. Oh yeah, and tapering benzos is going quite well. It's been 7 weeks, and I'm down to close to a third of my original dosage. The taper schedules I've seen seem to show I should wait a while before lowering my dosage again. SMART and such have been great in terms of motivation, but a lot of the details have been DIY. Getting my GP or an actual doctor involved would be cool, but is also probably a terrible idea in practice (and I've been doing fine so far).

idk, I just don't see much posting about it here, but then again it's really only a handful of Hexbears that post about it in general. also, just posting for the heck of posting.

Another sweetie down, infinite cuteness on the human race

It looks like they did a true tit-for-tat, blowing up a target with a missile (or a planted explosive). Reporting is early, so it's hard to tell, just like with the Ismael Haniyeh situation.

The photo is from Tel Aviv (and off Facebook, lol), it seems to show the response. Haven't seen any photos of the explosion itself yet, but I'm sure those will be coming out shortly.

It could have also been some other group, but that seems unlikely.

Lots of good stuff in their, really reminds me of badempanadas scuffle with Kurzgesgat. Also reminds me of our criticism of "bazinga brain" people.
