Takes one back a while.
Cyclist was struck (iirc) three times while bystanders witnessed and shouted at him. At this time there was no indication there would be timely police intervention. I'm not advocating, I'm just finding it surprising. If it was one skater getting attacked in front of other skaters, by a dude driving in a skate park, I feel like there would be a set of trucks through that window.
This is a terrible loss. I hope he is not actually retiring but merely redistributing his efforts.
I have stopped watching every basho, and have all but stopped watching at all, because I believe JSA sumo is extremely abusive and exploitive of its athletes. An injured athlete should not even be given the option to compete, but under the JSA they are harshly penalized if they don't. Sumotori are expected to sacrifice their bodies with actual religious fervor, mostly without meaningful compensation other than honour, and ultimately just for the entertainment of others. It feels gross to participate in that.
This is not an example of a car as a weapon. Such examples exist. This is not one. Advocacy needs to be grounded in reality to be effective.
What's with the Ontario Provincial Police cap, anyway? Is there a connection? (Beyond that Mitchel is from Sarnia, Ontario.)
I accept that what is being presented is factual. Do you not? I don't think that is the criticism here.
Abuse of power does not require any actual harm.
It's a solution that can be implemented by powerless people on their own. I agree that the state has better means at its disposal, but they're not going to help any time soon.
They're here to advance the interests of the state. Which is usually the status quo, but when it's suddenly not, shit happens.
I like the self-reference of this one. There's no reason for most of those characters to be there except to be Larsony.
