Personally I think the immutability is amazing precisely because it lets me tinker. Being able to layer packages and roll back if it’s not happy finally lets me try out different development setups

The way I see it, an os is just a set of fixed versions. I might as well treat it like a git checked requirements.txt or package.lock.json

Nix is also nice for that but that’s just a straight up config file nothing else.

Bazzite at least comes with preloaded options and wizards to choose other things

Voting against defederation. I’d prefer we have a clear protocol of escalation: let people block those communities, if it gets egregious and we start seeing hex style brigading or continuous support for bans, consider an instance wide community ban, then go for full defederation

Haven't seen enough of it on main to warrant hair-trigger actions IMO

Makes sense to me

Honestly, my opinion as someone of Indian descent is the only people that really care about “reclaiming aryan heritage” from nazis are hindutva “Brahmin piety” type people

I consider myself Indian, not Aryan

That’s just my opinion, I don’t claim to represent all indo Iranians but like honestly in my opinion the nazis can keep the aryan name

“Real” Aryans aren’t even worth being proud of anyways, the Aryans were primarily known for using chariot warfare to subjugate the Indian subcontinent and then spent centuries enforcing and enacting the horrific caste systems.

Nazis can keep the Aryan culture personally I don’t need it anyways

  • my own opinions ofc

Ethno nationalism is bad, whether it’s nazi Aryanism or Hindutva Aryanism

Neutrality only ever helps the aggressors. Hitlers Europe strategy was predicated on the Swiss doing nothing in response to the annexation of Austria and occupation of France.

Boycotts are one of two real effective ways of killing monopolies. It’s like their kryptonite.

Any boycott against a facist corporate hegemony is a go from me.

Biden Harris and the DNC is actually a facist “controlled opposition” party. The absolute lockstep they move with Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin is textbook entanglement of military corporate hegemonic facism. I have zero problems calling the RNC the nu Nazi party and the DNC as the “polite” nazi party. Lowkey I feel like we need a new “anti-monopoly” political party if anything good is gonna happen in the next 30 years

True I think bitwarden is the way to go. My bazzite os has it pre installed

Cancelled my yearly subscription. Mozilla, for all its faults, is at least doing things for a better and more open internet that provides a semblance of privacy. Most importantly they are smart enough to not bootlick in public.

Gonna migrate my passwords to Mozilla pass manager and move my vpn to something like Mozilla vpn or mullvad or something.

Increasing police funding consistently while not doing the same at the same rate for fire health and emergency services is in fact defunding the fire department.

When cop salaries and equipment are always priority #1, the police are in fact defunding US

I really feel like rather ridiculous is an understatement

  1. Not everyone has the latest IPhones
  2. Not everyone knows someone with the latest iPhones
  3. Not everyone lives near an Apple Store.
  4. Apple makes it possible to lockdown privacy, a SteamVR user ( you need steam base stations for bigscreen beyond to work) is more than likely going to be sophisticated to know and use the IOS privacy settings.

They literally have a product build on the most open source software stack in modern times built up by a company, and to get started on the product onboarding you need to use the most closed source software stack by the most draconian company in possibly the most locked down tech store where they are unfriendly towards strange apps and processes. While also ignoring the whole issue of logging in info on strange devices.

They have no idea about product market vibes and honestly this gives me no confidence their fucking pancake lens glasses are even worth the “customized sculpted face pad”

The fact they never saw that everything in this process is garbage on fire screams a terrible product vision and frankly, the opposite of what Valve envisioned people would do with SteamVR

I wanted to get myself a BigScreen VR for Christmas.

In order to get one, you need to do a 3d depth face scan using an lOS device that has privacy settings and content blockers set to as permissive as possible. Except even after doing that it doesn't work.

The solution literally listed on the customer support site was to either try someone else's lOS device, or to fucking drive to an Apple Store and hope they let u plug ur email into their germy, who knows what software's running on it, demo iPhones and hope it successfully runs their shitty WebKit app.

Couldn't get the face scan working, definitely not gonna plug my email into a demo iPhone, and I'm pretty sure I don't live near an Apple Store anyways.

BigScreen can get fucked, stick with Steam Index VR
