Do you want drag to avoid confusing other people by exposing them to unfamiliar kinds of pronouns?

[–] [email protected] -3 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

So drag using a word to refer to dragself is an imposition on you?

Probably more convenient to download the cracked version without the anticheat. That'll work on Linux.

The idea of "voting with your wallet" doesn't work in most cases, because your only options are to vote in favour, or not vote. Boycotts aren't votes against a product, because they don't hurt companies. They just refuse to help them.

Piracy isn't stealing, but since companies think it is, piracy is the third option we need - the no vote.

In a hundred and twenty or thirty years or something, the dollar will have inflated by 1000 times, so a billion dollars then will be equal to a million dollars now. It'll cost a billion dollars for a nice four bedroom house.

But we'll have had a hundred more years to produce anti billionaire propaganda, so a lot of people, especially teenagers, will need it explained to them that being a billionaire isn't so bad now. The Marxist-Leninists will all be saying that Cyborg Bernie Sanders is an evil billionaire, and us reasonable leftists will be explaining that a billion dollars is just what it costs these days to own a residence in your home state and also in DC, which is necessary for working as a senator.

What we'll really need to look out for by then is the trillionaires. Good for nothing parasites. There's no excuse for one person to own a trillion dollars while there are people living on the streets who can't even afford a measly ten thousand dollars for a cheeseburger meal.

The original post by @[email protected] was a woman wearing a shirt that says "Italians do it better". Someone asked what they do, and drag explained the joke as best as drag understood the intention, though drag disagrees that Luigi killed that CEO. It's not a call for violence, it's an explanation of a joke. Other people interpreted the joke the same way.

Less than an hour later, Flying Squid banned drag for that explanation, and for saying Luigi is not guilty. According to Flying Squid, referencing the CEO shooter case and saying Luigi didn't do it is a call for violence. Expressing support for Luigi Mangione is a bannable offense on LemmyShitpost.

EDIT: The Picard Maneuver responded to drag's appeal and reversed the ban. Drag will be deleting this post as it is no longer relevant to the current state of affairs on Lemmy Shitpost.

Sometimes drag buys a game on Steam at full price, and then a week later, the game goes on sale. Drag thinks "damn it, drag should have waited". But drag's never that upset, because drag wouldn't have bought the game if it weren't worth the price. Drag failed to save some money, but drag still values the game more than that money, so it's not a big issue.

The concept of negative equity was recently explained to drag, and it sounds like the housing equivalent of that. It happens when the price of housing crashes, but you already have an expensive mortgage out on the house. You still have to pay money worth more than the value of the house. Therefore, your equity, or equivalent share of ownership, is effectively less than zero.

The politician drag was talking to said negative equity is a big problem and it's why we can't just crash the housing market to solve all our cost of living problems. But drag doesn't understand. If you take out a mortgage, you should be able to afford it with your income, and the house should be worth more to you than its market value. Negative equity sounds like a huge bummer, but that politician was talking like it was something life ruining.

Why's negative equity so bad?

Drag has an old iPad Mini that stopped working. There's nothing physically wrong with it. The screen is fine, the battery is fine, the processor is old, but fit for purpose. Apple simply refuses to allow browser updates. It's not like drag needs the latest and greatest, drag only uses it to browse deviantart and furaffinity. As recently as a year ago it worked perfectly. But these websites no longer serve content properly to old browser versions, so drag needs a way to bypass apple and update the browser.

Drag's tried Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and even Brave. But apparently all browsers on iOS are just reskins of Safari, so none of these worked.

Is there some way drag could maybe install an Android distribution on the iPad? Or get a proper browser on this machine? Drag despises e-waste and also is broke. It's not a must-have, drag has a perfectly good phone and PC. But the larger screen size is good for image browsing, and hacking this machine to fix it would be a nice middle finger to Apple's planned obsolescence.

Drag knows that being a furry isn't all about sex. It's mostly about liking cartoon animals. But nonetheless, drag did have a preconception of the furry community being a generally sex-positive space due to all the queer floating around. Drag recently had a bizarre experience in which a community of furries was weirdly particular about a certain dirty joke, which had never been a problem in other online communities. Are furries really sex negative compared to most people?

Okay so the title of this post is a joke. But drag means it with a modicum of seriousness.

You see, the argument against this title is "We can't just blame everyone! If we did that, we'd be leaving people zero good options. We have to choose the least bad decision the voters could have made, and support that one."

Drag thinks this is a very sensible argument and agrees with it. We can't just say "screw every option, every action is bad" on principle. That's not productive. We have to choose some least-bad option to support.

Unfortunately, this argument is the same argument in favour of voting for Harris. A lot of people denied this same argument in the previous 6 months. They said no, you can just say "screw every option, every action is bad". They said not to support the least-bad option.

So therefore, drag is quite convinced that these people, for the sake of ideological consistency, ought to be condemning both the Harris voters and the non-voters.
