Even in the page given as an example here there are two speech bubbles that are pushing their boundaries.

Oh, of course. I'm not saying it's easy to produce, or that it should be cheap. From a corporate perspective it hardly matters why it's cheap though.

I could easily see it happening, especially with how comparatively cheap anime is to produce.

Let's be honest, Morihito is probably way safer without her help anyways.

Blue Box is pretty wholesome, especially for a shounen romance.

A couple of the manga I've been following ended in the last couple weeks, so I'll briefly discuss them:

Super Psychic Policeman Chojou:

The main character is of course what it says in the title. This is a gag manga, and I think it succeeded at that. Good goofs; nearly every chapter had me laughing. I'd give it a 7.5/10. A good time while it was around, but I won't particularly miss it.

Syd Craft: Love is a Mystery:

This is a story about a great detective who doesn't particularly want to be a great detective and is clueless when it comes to love. Showed some promise at first, but quickly became a generic harem thing. It actually had some decent mystery stories, and it was also still funny sometimes, but I probably wouldn't have read it to the end if I didn't think it was likely getting the axe soon anyways (it only survived for 28 chapters). 6/10. Maybe 100 Girlfriends raised my standards too much for what a harem manga can be, but it's kind of damning that I find myself happy to have a few minutes of time back each week rather than sad that it got axed.

My prediction for the next WSJ manga to get axed: Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi

Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi impressed me in the first few dozen chapters with great style and a great sense of humor. It's been letting me down in the last couple dozen chapters though with a combat arc that just goes on and on and on with the most boring-ass generic shounen fights I've ever seen. It's really sad how far it's fallen; I'm still reading it out of hope that it'll return to humor at the end of this arc but I'm worried that the arc seems kinda final and it'll end on the most mid note imaginable. The first half is probably an 8/10 for me but lately it's been more of a 6/10 manga.

Meanwhile I'm re-reading Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Blue Box, and Demon Slayer in Japanese. Those have all been a lot of fun with Kaguya-sama especially showing off just how great a love comedy can be. It's not quite perfect, but it's close.

Despite its flaws Jujutsu Kaisen will probably always be one of my favorite battle shounen. I love so much how

Season 1 Jujutsu Kaisen power system spoiler

Characters canonically power up by monologueing about what their powers do in the middle of battle, and there are even instances where characters hold back information while doing so to trick their opponent.

The only shounen that does not follow this formula off the top of my head is

Don't forget Fullmetal Alchemist!

I was wondering the same thing. It seems like there's an awful lot of care being put into how the kids' bodies are treated, and I don't see why the issue would be getting this much screen time if the kids weren't actually still alive.

I want one, but this title is kinda clickbait. You can't actually buy one; you can only pre-order it.

I am pleasantly surprised that Amuro doesn’t seem to be relevant here

There was some drama last year with Amuro's voice actor; something to do with sexual misconduct. It's possible they're deliberately avoiding using him for that reason. I hope we get a cameo in the background or something at some point though, just because I think many of us are curious to know what he's up to in this timeline. I think the best time for that would probably be at the very end of the show, post-climax.

will Garma win by doing nothing?

It hadn't occurred to me, but I guess there's no reason he couldn't get into politics once his insane siblings are out of the picture. I don't think he would though; presumably he's happily married at this point and has a family to worry about (not that such a thing stopped a certain other character).

if Machu and/or Nyaan kill each other or otherwise die and then it cuts to the ending of them singing and dancing I will laugh really hard

That would be hilarious.

Mother's Basement was streaming a watch-along of the first 3 seasons of Gag Manga Biyori (not to be confused with Non Non Biyori) so I thought "hey why not".

That was some weird shit.

It was like watching Gintama with a sprinkling of Cromartie High. I kinda wish I had some alcohol for that, but hey there's still seasons 4 & 5.

Yeah but naming someone after something from an unfinished series is still a very bold move. I could imagine a world where I name a kid after a fantasy character, but definitely not one where I name them after a fantasy character from an unfinished series. I mean, who knows where things might go!

Would've been nice to have spent a bit more time with lighting and posing. I feel like there's a lot of cool potential for posing 2 kits together but in practice I have trouble actually making it look good.

Took some posing inspiration from the statue of the man fighting four babies in Vigeland Park. The SD-EX kits are:

  • Gundam Unicorn
  • Gundam Barbatos Rex
  • Gundam Exia
  • Gundam 00
