PC is always a bit more complicated to use than a console. You have to deal with minimum requirements, graphics settings, drivers, troubleshooting, and such. I view PC as platform that takes more effort, but can give the best experience when everything's right.

It's less about the trustworthiness of the site and more about confirming the site's identity. Maybe the original is a scam site, but at least you know it's the original.

You might have some of that ahead. I had to dive into configs to get things like trackpad scrolling and gestures work on my laptop. I eventually switched to Fedora on that machine when an update broke the bootloader and I couldn't be arsed to fix it.
Apple does some things really well, but it's not worth it to risk that much money on an unrepairable machine that's known to just die randomly.

I don't know what printer you have, but I've had the exact opposite experience. I don't remember how I eventually got it working, but printing on windows was a lot more effort than transferring the files to mac or linux, which just worked out of the box.
It's been like that for some other miscellaneous devices like a playstation 3 controller and this old usb floppy drive I once needed.
