It's so weird how hexbear posts that are relevant to my immediate situation keep showing up. I just got off the phone with animal control regarding the buddy I found when I got back from a trip (rest in peace boo boo).

There's something fucky about the way they're describing how the whole bat encounter went down. They trapped the poor thing and called all the relevant parties AND had been through this before but didn't submit the bat for rabies testing? Thats how you actually know if you need to get that $600 shot, if no test can be performed youre supposed to err on the side of caution. Even then you only need to worry if you touched the guy directly. Regardless, something doesn't add up here. Obvi the point about healthcare costs still stand but it really sounds like most of this story is fabricated for a quick liberal wank.

It's not rediculous or unreasonable at all, like many of the other posters said its dug up old wounds and the loss of a place can be very painful as well. Places like that are homes, and even though they may be objects, homes are part of families in their own way. My heart goes out to you because there is a special place like that in my life too and I would be devestated if it were unexpectedly gone.

Your emotions are not silly, and you are allowed to feel what you're feeling <3

This this this, you gotta give yourself things to look forward to.

It doesn't even have to be anything big or all that interesting either, packing a lunch and going to some touristy thing nearby can do wonders for the soul, even if whatever you go and see kinda sucks! Heck, just walking down a path youve never used or a route you've never taken helps too. Seeing where you live in a new light can be way fun.

My dumbest tip for keeping things whimsical is to have little treats with you and maybe even hide them some place you'll forget so that its doubly fun when you discover them again! It's lovely when I clean my car out and find that cookie I hid a couple months ago just so I could run into it like this.

It's so crazy how this show is basically the exact same shit the exact same type of guy would have done 10, 20, 30 years ago with the exact same jokes. The only difference is the post-covid brainworms and the context of the transphobia being presented as a losing ideology. Kinda mindblowing that this dude is a couple years from AARP eligibility and still talking like he's in middle school. That sucks.

Oooooooh those are so good, so cute, so sweet, each of them get a little kissy.

(This is not actually wise to do because bats are not domesticated and aside from the disease risk it would scare the shit out of the poor things to be given even the littlest of kissies)

I like how the UBGL looks like a prop pistol from a low-budget spy movie.

The biggest hurdle in our vaccination program is the rapidly evolving nature of the disease. By the time a viable candidate shows up it's no longer for the dominant strain. Just a couple weeks ago one of the boys down in the lab had perfected one for the critical race theory variety, I didn't have the heart to tell them that we had already moved on to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Don't even get me started on the LGBTQ stuff, we've never made a lick of progress in THIRTY FUCkING YEARS and at this point the leading theory is that just something a person is.

I've been the head of the project for going on five years now and I'm just gonna tell you that a vaccine is never coming. The best you can do to protect yourself is to wash your hands, wear a mask in public, and eat a balanced diet.

Re: the replies

So representation is really powerful right?

Come christmas morning a bunch of kids are gonna start playing the game they got from their mom and see someone who looks like them as this badass ninja samurai dude. They're gonna be like "Wow this Yasuke guy is pretty cool" and then later get their minds blown when they find out he was based off of a real person. Maybe for some of them this sparks a lifelong love of history. Maybe some of those kids even go on to become respected scholars and authors, their lives changed by that feeling of being represented. Regardless, they'll have a good time with their new game.

Meanwhile, these reply guys are going to still be giving themselves hypertension over this and they will never feel anything like the joy those kids are gonna feel.

So fuck 'em, let those morons mald 'till kingdom come.

one mom, two dads and twelve boyfriends.

Gonna keep the vow of celibacy stuff so that when the priests and monks and shit show up in heaven I can be like "Nah I was just fucking with you guys, sex is awesome actually lmao."

Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge is a shining example of what an expansion can be. A lot of refined mechanics, better fleshed out factions (plus one new one!) and three new campaigns with just as many FMV cutscenes as the previous iterarion.

Honorable mention and this kinda doesn't count but Mental Omega is a mod for Yuri's Revenge that has between 3 to 4 times more content than the base game. There's a dozen subfactions split between four subfactions and inregrates features from later C&C games while introducing a lot of it's own stuff. It has some "borrowed" voice lines from other games but there are some units that have original voices which is pretty cool. No FMV video though. It's suprisingly deep for what it was based off of and it has become one of my favorite RTS experiences.

Side note:

This is such an unpopular opinion of mine but while Dead Money is cool my favorite of the FONV expansions was Old World Blues because of the goofiness of the characters contrasted with the manmade horrors of the big empty. I found Lonesome Road to be meh and Honest Hearts to be uncomfortable with how it seems to embrace the concept of the "White Man's Burden" uncritically.
