Also trueanon lol. Tried to give it a shot because people on here reference it a lot, and the first episode I listened to, one of the hosts goes off about how Trump is a “fat and gay” and later calls somebody the r-slur. I don’t get how anybody on this site can listen to that edgy bigoted 2013-filthy-frank style ‘humor’

Been sick as a dog all week but still fitting in some exercise. Haven’t read nearly as much as I wanted to this month, and I was hoping to be fully employed by the end of the month, but I suppose those are now my April goals lol. Overall it’s been a good month; I exceeded my weight gain goals, sent hundreds more job applications, wrote some programs, and didn’t miss a day of language learning. To put some more concrete goals down for April: I want to journal daily, keep up the language and exercise rigor, check some books off my reading list, and find full time work.
Hell yeah do ur thing. I’m a cis man as well but I don’t really fw gender roles, the social expectations, the toxic masculinity etc. While I’m outwardly very masc presenting I think it’s cool to do nonconformant shit and be true to yourself however that looks. For me it’s denying the social roles and redefining masculinity into something healthy with which I do identify. Exploring different styles and fashion is another cool ass way to dive into yourself. I’m glad you’re confident enough in yourself to shirk that social pressure
I mean farmers markets and the like are nice, but when people are talking about markets in economics they don’t mean stalls of fruit or bazaars or something, they mean a system of distribution where goods are produced for profitable private sale as commodities
Pretty good article for Nytimes standards. I’m glad to see at least a little lib pushback against the ongoing and prevalent COVID denialism. The most reactionary tendencies really ‘won’ the narrative around COVID and it still shocks me every day. People who were by my side in 2020 pushing for strong precautions, who waited in line for the vaccine in ‘21; now they’re claiming COVID is no worse than the flu or a cold and not getting boosters or masking. Even in my more progressive city I see only a handful of other people masking each day. It is very revealing how many people were willing to swallow the anti vax and denialist narrative the moment it became convenient for them to do so, such that they can pretend the pandemic is over.
I couldn't agree more. This site has such a palpable culture of solidarity permeating even the silliest bits and struggle sessions. It's a safe space on an internet that largely lacks them, and a social site without the corporate overlords breathing down our necks. I love this place and hope it makes it <3
I got into an argument with a comms professor when I was 19 about this. He was insistent that asexuality and demisexuality were mental illnesses and nobody else in the class took umbrage with this. Our textbook even said it, I was shocked
Peggy pisses me off man, I love his work but he won’t let go of this Kanye supporting shit even when the man was actively meeting with trump and now when he’s tweeting full on nazi shit. Then when everybody’s calling him out for that while he calls himself any sort of ally he accuses those people of being keyboard warriors and writes songs about how he’s just a target for projection. Like no man ppl are calling you out for materially supporting a fascist for self serving bs reasons
See this bad thing happening under capitalism? Pretty much like communism huh guys that makes sense
It’s me I’m the turbonerd
I agree. I think Hector Martin should not have endorsed that sort of behavior to whatever extent he did. But I also think long term that the sorts of behavior that’s keeping these rust patches out of the code base will kill the future of the project. The reasons given aren’t even applicable since the patches are in their own branch of the tree. But I agree brigading is not the way to address these sorts of organizational issues
Flat out wrong, the Japanese were preparing to surrender prior to the nuclear bombs being used. The USSR had entered the Pacific front and was rolling through Manchuria to hit Japan, and the Japanese empire knew they were finished then and there. The nukes were nothing more than a US stunt to demonstrate the weapons and intimidate the socialist and imperialized countries away from resistance as the US started the Cold War.
