What do you think of the istanbul situation with the arrest and protests?
Because evolution isn’t an intelligent or designed process, it’s largely random changes where the things that work lead to better survival rates. So it doesn’t matter that animals with more types of cone cells can see them easily, the adaptation was favorable for prey stalking so those are the only group of animals whose sight affected the tigers survivability.
I think Ted Cruz retweeting porn on 9/11 gets the crown for me
I like MovementByDavid on YouTube. He teaches about flexibility training, has exercise videos teaching stretches for specific joints with alternate stretches for different levels, and has free books online with training info. Doing those stretches alongside my strength training has helped me feel a lot more connected to my body, limber, and resilient
I’m learning French and Mandarin! French because i have familial ties, my grandparents spoke it and I knew little bits that were passed down to me. I would love to visit or live in France, I have plans around it but don’t want to get too specific here. But I’m at a CEFR B2 level there
Mandarin because we’re in the Chinese century and I’d love to have the opportunity to visit and maybe work or study in China one day. I just got through my HSK 1 curriculum in March
I think this case is a net loss if it does change Apple’s practices in France. They’re fining Apple for making it more difficult for advertisers and developers to track users across apps. It’s not like the tool Apple has here is actually private, it pretty much just lets them monopolize tracking users’ app usage, but it still minimizes the number of parties getting access to this private data. It’s more private than not having it as the ruling here seems to desire.
I’m doing my part 🫡
I had a lot of fun with VR from like 2019-2021. But it really does still feel like a gimmick. I loved whipping it out at a party or kickback, and people were always eager to play some games on it, but it really was the novelty that made it fun. It offers unreal immersion but the space requirements, up front costs, and isolating feel are big turn offs. And using it longer than 2 hours or so is near impossible. That said, my friends all got quests and quest 2s during quarantine and it gave us a lot of new and more immersive ways to play pc games and socialize that I valued during that time.
I’m in the US but prefer metric. So I use Celsius on my phone, laptop etc. For my own use there’s a little mnemonic that makes it unnecessary to convert and helps build intuition. It goes “30 is hot, 20 is nice, 10 is cold, 0 is ice.” That pretty much hits all the practical needs I have for my weather forecasts etc.
If I need to convert though I do the multiply by 2 and add 32 formula for a rough estimate
