dawg I couldn't even read the whole thing

I have mostly become a filter of depressing information and it doesn't get to me too much in the moment... but reading that stuff... I literally feel ill right now. My stomach feels turned and my heart feels heavy. My brain has slowed down to a halt.

All the loss so far is deeply depressing, and the future is existential on every level. It seems that we are just fucked.

Hasnt it been around a while? I remember Jason Statham smashing them down in Crank (2006) to keep his adrenaline levels up.

That's insane. My partner has a very severe nut and soya allergy, even a trace can trigger it... To go without one is completely inhumane.

Wow. My inhalers literally cost £10. And even then, I say to myself "oof, bit steep."

The skull? Like he dug up the dogs body to get it's actual skull? Or he killed it and chopped it's head off?

Morbid question I know.

Perhaps, but its interesting to see what his brain defaulted to in the moment.

A very interesting part of this to me is the framing of war/invasions as "conflicts prosecuted by democracies".

If I was presented this quote in isolation, I would assume he's saying 'democracies are prosecuting people in conflicts for war crimes', - BUT HE'S NOT.

He's calling the act of war/invasion itself a 'prosecution' - hammering home the point that the West is the rightful world police - the judge, the jury, and the executioner. Imperialism happens because (insert country) is guilty.

Judge Dredd style foreign policy.

My predictions for the coming years of covert foreign policy, in no particular order:

  • Disrupting China's belt road initiative. This is the most obvious one. Chinas also got a train to Iran, going through Kyrgistan and Uzbekistan - so watch out for anti Chinese colour revolutions over there. Continue watching out for Afghanistan, on Chinese Ughyurstan's border - the U.S would have liked for the Taliban to be more hostile to China right now but China are doing as they always do - a hands off approach with lots of trade benefits.

  • Sahel states. Mark my words, documents will show Western backing of the Islamic Fundamentalists there - that Sahel are curently forced to deal with constantly. Traore is a big one, the West are just waiting to see how far he'll go. Luckily for the West, the Sahel states aren't as mineral rich as Congo, so we don't rely on them for too much.

  • French recolonisation efforts. With prisons opening in Guyana reminiscent of the old French 'Devil's Hole' prison, and their suppression of riots off some of their islands (I forgot which one - not Solomon islands, but it has a similar name) - France are back to play ball.

  • Speaking of Solomon islands however, countering Chinese influence near Australia.

  • Chechen movements, continue being a thorn to Putin.

  • Probably continued Ukraine funding, but not to immediately start a war - first Western investors will complete their immensely lucrative plan of 'rebuilding' Ukraine, making good use of all the repealed labour laws, and obliterated left wing parties. Once that's been done, rinse and repeat, sacrifice East Ukraine to the meat grinder once again decades down the line.

Fun, fun, fun. Watch that space.

Hello all.

I won a bursary to write and produce a very small budget 5-10 minute film. I pitched an idea to them, but I've realised that I'm not sure how viable the scope of my idea was - it was overambitious from me.

The people who gave me the bursary are fine with me doing anything sort of relevant to my pitch, but that would be overcomplicating things to get all of you in on the details.

I was so excited to do it, but now I'm slightly anxious about what I'm going to do.

Anyone got some good short-short films to share? I'm open to anything, but the vibe is 'serious/activist' I suppose. I do like comedy though. I'm much more comfortable writing comedy, really. Or something arthousey.

I mean - consider for a second that we currently have the most comprehensive martial arts practice in all of history, with the largest humans, best sports science, and all that.

Any top UFC fighter from the past decade could probably beat the fuck out of anyone ever before the year 1980. Isn't that wild? Dudes who have (probably) watched Rick and Morty could beat the piss out of Alexander The Great or whoever the fuck. And it wouldn't even be close.

Biting and eye gouging is banned of course, but even if it wasn't, Brock Lesnar isn't letting you even get close to that. I mean, speaking of Brock, even big pro wrestlers - medieval blokes would shit their pants on sight if they saw Scott Steiner going freakmode off the roids. Perc Angle. Big Show - like what - he's a literal giant.

But what about Mark Zuckerberg? He's a big guy. He does his MMA. I think give him a month to train and send him back in time. Hate to hand it to him, but he would crush.

holy fucking idiots

EDIT: solved. Upon further investigation, she doesn't even have a gas hob. She has an electric one. It was a fabrication. Nasty woman.

Hello all. A little while ago I got banned from Reddit because of some VERY mild Israel criticism. Truly, I am in awe that I got a sitewide ban for telling people not to conflate anti Zionism with anti semitism. Every new account I make gets nuked in a matter of hours.

Anyway. My mother is totally mental. She threatens suicide a lot. Attempts it even. But I often doubt what's really happening. My sister cut her off over it.

So last night she says she's really doing it, and she's going to put the gas on in her campervan (shes on holiday in France) and take some sleeping pills and that'll be her life over. She said the dogs will die too. She knows I care for them deeply, and has tried to leverage similar things before. But I figure they've had an excellent and long life each, and carbon monoxide/propane is a pretty good way to go. Sad, of course, but I am so detached at this point that I just have to accept it for what it is.

Anyway, this morning, to no surprise at all, she wakes up alive. As always. And she says the dogs are ill. One woke up but didn't move, the other wouldn't come round til she bathed him in some water. So she says she had to go to the vet. She tells me they gave the dogs an IV drip and some charcoal.

Already suspecting bullshit, that caught my attention. Why would you give charcoal to a gas-poisoned dog? Charcoal is for ingested poisons, is it not? Gas poisoning is blood and oxygen related. Any vet worth their salt would not administer charcoal in that situation, right? Or am I wrong?

So that's the crux of the question. I think she's lying. I mean, how hard is it to gas yourself in a campervan? She's 50 something and frail. And two little older shihtzus? They're gonna easily get gassed out. She never took those dogs to the vet because nothing ever happened.

And would that cost 700 GBP (in euros)? That's what she's saying it cost.

Anyway, save me your messages of condolence and such. I know it's a hard situation. Everyone always tells me so. I've come to terms with all that a long time ago. I just want the truth.

If you don't know the answer, a post on r/veteranarians or whatever the vet sub is would be fantastic help. Many pleases. Many thanks.

This is from 2023 but somehow I've only just seen it... My first instinct was to look for Keith Stumer's Azov patch.
