I read a story where an elderly dementia patient died during a helicopter ambulance ride that cost more than value of the family home. The craziest part is that insurance would have paid a fraction of the price, but the ambulance service had no reason to negotiate with an estate that had an asset to take.

Normally I wouldn't feel too bad about someone not getting their inheritance, but the daughter had moved in to keep her mom from going to a nursing home.

I read this last week. I'm still having a hard time processing my thoughts on it. It's clearly a brilliantly written book, but I feel like I'd need to read it again to really understand it.

I knew I was getting into a dark book, but damn it fucked with my mood.

The part of this story that amazed me was that the dark web dealer sent real worms. If you sent capsules with something inert like sand in them, what would be the consequences? Nobody is going to be able to tell it's not real before the escrow is released.

Sending the real worms is an actual legal risk, I'd think.

Conservatives do a lot of dumb and pointless politicking, but this shit is effective. Every so often they pick some product and then say "The left is going to ban this thing you love!". They've said the left is coming for soda, happy meal toys, trans fats, gas stoves, brick oven pizza, vapes, plastic straws, Zyns, cars that can break the speed limit, etc.

A lot of it is either made up completely, or blown out of proportion, but Dems have no counter to it. With the gas stove thing, Democrats voted to prevent a gas stove ban that was never going to happen anyway, lending legitimacy to the idea they were going to do it. They'll back away from this, too, and it'll look like conservatives saved Zyns.

They should have promised the ability to work while you sleep. Tech bro types will throw piles of cash at it.

I don't even get why Stephen King stays on twitter. These two losers are always throwing lame insults at each other on there, but the difference is that Elon is making money off it. He's rich and popular enough that he doesn't need twitter to promote his books, it's just about attention for him.

That's a good way to think about it, thanks. I think I can work my training plan into something that averages out to 80% a day over 7 days.

Anyone exercise without off days?

I find it so difficult to go running after a day off that I'm seriously considering it. I'm thinking of trying 7 days a week, with 2 light days instead on 6 days on and 1 day off.

Off days don't seem to help me recover much anyway. Whenever I get a minor injury it seems to heal much better if I do a light jog instead of sitting around.

It's the worst when people get up to go to the bathroom. Wear a diaper like a true cinema fan

Pest control is the landlords responsibility. Usually big landlords want to take care of a roach infestation because it can spread to other apartments and become a much more expensive issue.

If you live in an apartment building, they could be coming from some neighbor who has a bad infestation. In that case you need the landlord to deal with it because extermination won't stop them from coming back unless they treat every apartment.

I think he's scared by the Google antitrust ruling. Meta would be absolutely crushed by an effective antitrust action.

You win over the Dems with donations and lobbying, and you win over Republicans by emulating Elon.
