True, fascism is the ultimate weapon that capitalists use in reaction to labor movements and class consciousness gaining strength. In fact, I’d argue that given modern advances in communication technology, which allow people to communicate and organize easier than ever, a fascist swing was almost inevitable.

It’s a shame that western world leaders don’t like dialectic materialism. We might have identified the problem before it seized power.

Yes, I understand the history, and I’m saying that all of those undeclared wars were a breach of the intention of the constitution to make the decision to go to war the purview of Congress.

It’s like all the other unwritten expectations of behavior that were never actual codified because the founders assumed politicians would be good people.

And now we have Trump who ignores every social more in the book and has shown that we really can’t leave good behavior down to “expectations.”

Why do you let them set the narrative that a precedent of wrongdoing legitimizes future trespasses?

Honestly modern China in my lifetime has been a more benevolent world player than the US by orders of magnitude. Not perfect, obviously, but at least they haven’t been starting wars or electing fascists. I’m excited for this shift.

Nah, the news won’t do that. They’re all owned by oligarchs who are responsible for the current state of the world. Corporate news is not on our side.

No one is coming to save us, we have to do it ourselves.

Right on! Glad to see that!

Oh for sure, the protest against the Iraq war was the largest in the world up to that point. In fact, I don't think the anti-Trump protests have surpassed the Iraq war protests yet, depending on where you're talking about. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/15_February_2003_anti-war_protests

I think we’re agreeing but something got lost. I was trying to say that Israel is the bully and it’s ok to fight back against them.

Yes, and carpet bombing is entirely more evil. Iran is the lesser of two evils here. Isn’t that what liberals said we should always strive for? The lesser of two evils?

It’s not cognitive dissonance if you’re deliberately holding the two ideas. It’s only cognitive dissonance when you try to keep their black and white thinking and can’t find any reconciliation between the two.

Israel is a prominent member of the global western capitalistic hegemony, and they are escalating tensions with their genocide and attack on Iran. I wouldn't say they're the only ones responsible, but they do share a large portion of the blame.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (3 children)

How is it accidental? They are committing genocide. All of their murders are purposeful. Also, I never said anything about cheering, I said I critically support Iran's defense against Israeli aggression.

Btw, I agree with you. The ruling class is responsible for all of this, and unless we remove them and make it impossible for a class system to exist, we will perpetually have war.

All I'm saying is that if someone attacks me, intent on my annihilation, you don't get to say how I fight back.
