Yeah, that case can be made. Israel would also find any pretext they need for their genocide, it certainly didn't start with hamas. I'm also not going to shit on people who are far closer to a genocide than I am for having a strong opinion on the matter.

It's more subtle than simply being pro genocide explicitly, manifests more as things like criticism of things like "terrorism" in only one direction, or 'both sides'. Everyone in this thread who is agreeing with Sunshine dragging hamid for "praising hamas" is pro genocide as far as I'm concerned, they're all just soooo concerned about making sure both sides get criticism. Disgusting behavior.

My experience has been that hexbear is not pro russia as much as they're critical of it but also don't buy the euromaiden was-not-a-coup narrative. Most of the .world side of lemmy is far more vocally supportive of Ukraine to the point of having entire comms dedicated to grisly snuff flims and thinly veiled ethnic slurs.

I see your comparison, hexbear is "pro russia" in a way that their criticism of both sides is exaggerated for effect, and .world is "pro genocide" in a way that their criticism of both sides is exaggerated for effect. The problem I have is that while it can be summarized as such, there's a distinct difference between the two when it comes to power. The war in Ukraine is essentially peer-level conflict between capitalist powers while in Palestine a colonial occupier is using a flimsy pretext to exterminate a captive population with full bipartisan US participation.
