yeah, this doesn't seem worse, just redundant
counterpoint to every criticism: bizarre, inappropriate laughter
Bazzite is good too, it's immutable, meaning it's harder to break, and more focused on gaming. I've used it for a steam console for family. I just recommended Fedora for more general purpose.
Edit: I don't think the steam deck interface works for nvidia cards, so make sure not to use that install option
I need menus that go 30 levels deep, they need to take up the entire screen, screenshots should be indistinguishable from Excel
you can look up games on protondb to see what works and any possible workarounds. I wouldn't recommend Mint or other "beginner" distros for new hardware, they're LTS (long term support) distros that are usually a year or more behind on kernel updates. Almost everything is derived from arch, debian, or red hat, so be aware of which yours comes from to get support documentation, I would recommend the least derivative version you can get, so in that vein I recommend EndeavorOS, Debian, or Fedora, respectively.
nvidia cards work fine, I used a 3060 for years, but you can't use the nice stuff Valve did for the steam deck
sounds like the perfect time for a clean break
