I'm so happy for you! Congrats on telling your friend as well cat-trans

Gosh there are multiple big things going on this summer now (and am in the process of planning), and it's just really exciting! Not to mention I'll be starting progesterone in a few weeks, and the weather's been getting warmer, which can be nice, but can also means the sun is baking me sometimes. It really feels like summer is already here... but it's not doggirl-sweat

The semester isn't over, I still have work to do, and I may have forgotten to take my meds today and am struggling to focus. Whoops! I should probably make sure I get my work done so that I can do the things I want to do.

Don't worry, I'm doing alright! Just noticing certain habits and thought patterns I want to try to stop having cat-trans

Hey, just wanted to put this out there in case it comes up for anyone, but I'm sort of taking a break from most stuff on matrix, and probably greatly decreasing my activity here as well. I've kind of realizing I was letting it become a detriment to my mental health, which is not why I'm on here. The downsides of being overwhelmed in the environments started to outweigh the community for me, so I'm taking a break. I won't be gone forever, and you might see me lurking, or dropping the occasional comment from time to time, but I probably wouldn't expect further interaction from me for a bit. If you need or want to reach me, please feel free to DM me on matrix. It's much easier for me to manage one on one now, which is ironic because I used to be a completely other way, but here we are.

So yeah, that's all I've got to say. Again, I will be back! I just need a bit of a break from some social stuff for a bit. My matrix account is linked to my profile here as well, and I'm still in the rooms, so hopefully it shouldn't prove too much of an issue if you want/need to reach me. With that, I'll wish you all a wonderful day cat-trans

Who wants a bit of a fun fact?

From the song's Wikipedia page:

Gerard Way has said this song, "Skylines and Turnstiles" and "Headfirst for Halos" are the most important songs on the album. Way has also stated "Vampires Will Never Hurt You" is his favorite song of all time, and his favorite vocal performance he has ever done.

Salutations Everybody!

As always, we ask that in order to participate in the weekly megathread, one self-identifies as some form of disabled, which is broadly defined in the community sidebar:

"Disability" is an umbrella term which encompasses physical disabilities, emotional/psychiatric disabilities, neurodivergence, intellectual/developmental disabilities, sensory disabilities, invisible disabilities, and more. You do not have to have an official diagnosis to consider yourself disabled.

So yeah, there is a literal void you can enter in the game (and fish in)! While it looks like a glitch/bug, it actually seems to be completely intentional, as a message will display when you enter the void, and when you leave it. So, how did I do this?

Step 1: Private Island Prop

Stand near the pictured wall in the main building. Looking towards the wall, place a private island prop.

Step 2: Enter Private Island, Then Leave

Yeah, do that. Travel to the island, then leave the island.

Step 3: Proto-Void

Where you will be at this point is the proto-void. No messages will display, and you will be able to see inside of the main building, but I believe fishing inside of it still acts like the void.

Step 4: Void

Walk/Sprint into the proto-void until you fall. At this point, you will respawn in the void, and see this message in the chat.

(I got rate limited catgirl-cry, the message says: "you feel a light breeze")

Step 5: Back to the Light

By walking/sprinting into the real void, you will eventually fall and respawn back into the main world. The message shown will be displayed in the chat.

(Still rate limited, the message says: "you feel warm once again")

That's it! I've heard rumors from my siblings that there's a special fish that can only be found within the void. It requires higher-level bait (I think), so I will let you know if it actually exists. Or there's probably an article about it on one of those gaming news/guides websites.

When I was a young boy, my father

Took me into the city to see a marching band

He said, "Son, when you grow up would you be

The savior of the broken, the beaten and the damned?"

He said, "Will you defeat them? Your demons

And all the non-believers, the plans that they have made?

Because one day, I'll leave you a phantom

To lead you in the summer to join the black parade..."

When I was a young boy, my father

Took me into the city to see a marching band!

Hi Everyone!

Alright, with that out of the way, let's talk about COVID-19, specifically the kind that messes with you for long time, possibly forever! <-- (so fun /s)

From the Wikipedia Page on Long COVID:

Long COVID or long-haul COVID is a group of health problems persisting or developing after an initial period of COVID-19 infection. Symptoms can last weeks, months or years and are often debilitating. The World Health Organization defines long COVID as starting three months after the initial COVID-19 infection, but other agencies define it as starting at four weeks after the initial infection.

Long COVID is characterized by a large number of symptoms that sometimes disappear and then reappear. Commonly reported symptoms of long COVID are fatigue, memory problems, shortness of breath, and sleep disorder. Several other symptoms, including headaches, mental health issues, initial loss of smell or taste, muscle weakness, fever, and cognitive dysfunction may also present. Symptoms often get worse after mental or physical effort, a process called post-exertional malaise. There is a large overlap in symptoms with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

The causes of long COVID are not yet fully understood. Hypotheses include lasting damage to organs and blood vessels, problems with blood clotting, neurological dysfunction, persistent virus or a reactivation of latent viruses and autoimmunity. Diagnosis of long COVID is based on (suspected or confirmed) COVID-19 infection or symptoms—and by excluding alternative diagnoses.

As of 2024, the prevalence of long COVID is estimated to be about 6-7% in adults, and about 1% in children. Prevalence is less after vaccination. Risk factors are higher age, female sex, having asthma, and a more severe initial COVID-19 infection. As of 2023, there are no validated effective treatments. Management of long COVID depends on symptoms. Rest is recommended for fatigue and pacing for post-exertional malaise. People with severe symptoms or those who were in intensive care may require care from a team of specialists. Most people with symptoms at 4 weeks recover by 12 weeks. Recovery is slower (or plateaus) for those still ill at 12 weeks. For a subset of people, for instance those meeting the criteria for ME/CFS, symptoms are expected to be lifelong.

Globally, over 400 million people have experienced long COVID.

Mask up, love one another, and stay alive for one more week.

In traditional fashion, any account owned by me (the person behind the screen) must have it's first account be a music post. So, here's MCR. This is a song from my new repeat album. It's hardcorey, it's metalcorey, it's emoey, it's punky, and I had no idea MCR had an album like this until @[email protected] told me about it. So, thanks, I've really been enjoying the album this song is from.
