EUGENE VICTOR DEBS (1855-1926) was one of the greatest and most articulate advocates of workers’ power to have ever lived. During the early years of the labor movement in the United States, Debs was far ahead of his times, leading the formation of the American Railway Union (ARU) and the American Socialist Party.

Debs was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on November 5, 1855. He left home at 14 to work on the railroad and soon became interested in union activity. As president of the American Railway Union, he led a successful strike against the Great Northern Railroad in 1894. Two months later he was jailed for his role in a strike against the Chicago Pullman Palace Car Company. While in jail, Socialist and future Congressman Victor Berger talked with Debs and introduced him to the ideas of Marx and socialism. When he was released from prison, he announced that he was a Socialist.

He soon formed the Social Democratic Party, which eventually became the Socialist Party in 1901. He became their perennial presidential candidate. He ran on the Socialist ticket in 1904, 1908, 1912, and 1920 when he received his highest popular vote—about 915,000 (3.4%)—from within a prison cell. He had been arrested once again, this time for “sedition”; because he opposed World War I. Many Socialists were imprisoned during this time because they felt that the war was being fought for the profits of the rich, but with the blood of the poor. Debs was fortunately released in 1921.

Debs died in Elmhurst, Illinois, on October 20, 1926, but he is remembered to this day by countless labor activists from all over the political spectrum. The Eugene V. Debs Foundation works to continue his legacy into the 21st century...

"That set of stars looks like Orion" it's clearly a Feynman diagram. The ancient greeks were such dumbasses.

Thats right its another "twitter food takes made me mad."

This time it was the usual like, "barbaric nordic cuisine" but in particular this time it was about the norwegian whole sheeps head dish. And idk about what everyone else hears but thats literally like what I hear when racist people start shouting about when it comes to "middle eastern"(actually more like central asian) cuisine. Oh they all make you eat goat heads if you come over for dinner, that type of shit.

Like simmer down ok, there's very few kinds of slop and gross bits of animals that cannot be found in two separate places on the globe if you start looking, sooner or later you'll find someone who isnt a disgusting norse but who also manages to eat that same slop.

The episode where the therapist tries to talk Tony into realizing his mom tried having him whacked seems so crazy. Like both potentially puts people in danger and seems like a needlessly hostile way of leading the therapy session. Kept expecting it to be a dream sequence.

on the bright side i just had a bowl noodle™ for the first time in like fourteen years and i think it had a little piece of actual meat but maybe that was a raisin i'm not sure

I got the menus setup on my avatar and some textures made. I couldn't be happier with the results. Here's a short vid of me showing them off in vrchat. I plan on adding a few more shirts soon.

If no-one else has hextube movie plans, anyone want to join me in watching Six String Samurai at about 9pm EST? It's a nice short 90 minutes of low-budget but high-effort rock-and-roll martial arts fun. Rated PG-13, no real content warnings to worry about. Violence but no gore. No SA stuff, no nudity, not even much bad language. But lots of martial arts.

The sword-swinging reincarnation of Buddy Holly is trekking across the post-nuclear-war wasteland of Nevada. His goal: to reach the legendary city of Lost Vegas. The King of Lost Vegas, Elvis, has died - and Buddy is determined to be crowned the next King of Rock and Roll. But he has to survive against bowlers with nice shoes, cave-men in cars, cannibalistic sitcom characters, remnants of the Red Army, and Death Metal himself. Full movie is here.
