Reminds me of this time last year when Trump was on trial for a half dozen things.
Everyone was all like "ooh it would be so undemocratic to try someone while they're campaigning".
Meanwhile republicans can just uncitizen anyone they don't like.

It's not just Fox News. Bezo's Washington Post ran an editorial, written by "the editorial board," about how Mamdani would be "bad for New York and bad for the Democratic Party," claiming he would destroy public transit, reduce the number of grocery stores, drive away big businesses, depress low-skill employment, etc., etc., etc. Oh, and of course that this would discredit all the other young candidates across the country. The WaPo's threat earlier this year to make their editorial page aggressively pro-capitalist and anti-public-good was apparently very much in earnest.

It's extra dumb because it's NYC - no Republican was ever gonna be mayor. They're just all being super racist.
I don't know why you think that. Giuliani and Bloomberg were both Republicans. Republicans have run New York for more than half of the last 30 years.
And even when we get Democrats, we end up with conservative Dems like Eric Adams out here promising to lock people up.

The fact that a party so blatantly unconstitutional (and criminal) can get so much support in this country is not a good sign for the future of this nation. I wouldn't invest any hope in things getting better anytime soon. And I mean even when Trump is gone.

On June 2, New York City Council Member Vickie Paladino, a Republican, wrote: "Let's just talk about how insane it is to elect someone to any major office who hasn't even been a US citizen for ten years—much less a radical leftist who actually hates everything about the country and is here specifically to undermine everything we've ever been about. Deport."
Mamdani hit back at Paladino on X, saying: "Like nearly 40% of all New Yorkers, I wasn't born in this country. I moved here at age 7. It's my home. And I'm proud to be a citizen, which means standing up for our Constitution. Councilmember Paladino might consider reading it."

As a naturalized US Citizen, this is why I couldn't sleep well on November 5, 2024, and haven't ever really had a good night of sleep since the next morning, when I saw the election results.
Citizenship doesn't exist under a tyranny. There's only people inside the circle and people outside the circle. And the circle constantly gets smaller

At this point I think GOP is simply a fascist party, which has been hiding behind false patriotism.
They are simply atrociously and with no sense of humanity or ridiculousness. Just pure hatred personified into a shell of human beings.
If I were to be religious I would think that Trump is the anti-Christ and his followers are simply demons.
Why did it take so long to come to that conclusion? That's been the case for years. My mom, who is religious and fortunately not part of the MAGA cult, has repeatedly told me that she wouldn't be surprised if he is.

I’m calling on the federal government to strip the citizenship of every member and associate of the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) because they are a threat to the USA.
ICE needs to step in and quickly deport them before their case can be heard in court.
Now that the Supreme court has approved of deportations to third countries, this is actually feasible. Maybe Uganda would like to welcome them. Or perhaps Libya.

This is the battle that determines our future. If we lose this, it's war, or submission for years or decades, and then war.
Yeah that's not going to happen. Zohran Mamdani is in no way a threat to the US. Period.
If it did happen I bet LA this last month will look like a slumber party compared to what will happen as a result of this actually happening.
A conservative literally went and shot a sitting democrat politician and her husband dead. It was a news story for about 10 seconds before being replaced by the latest Trump shenanigans. They're literally assassinating / murdering democrats in their homes man, and no one in America seems to care all that much.

As an outsider looking at American politics, "blue no matter who" is a propaganda to condition Americans citizens to always accept the lesser evil, and to not bother to try to lobby or pressure their own representatives to be actually be better.
"Blue no matter who" doesn't mean "vote for the second worst person". What it means is anyone who has any shred of decency isn't a republican anymore, and republicans cannot be allowed to win at any cost, or they will very quickly backslide civil rights and start a war in the Middle East.
I think the Dems will back Mamdani, since he's going to win the primary. There are a lot of naysayers about the Democrats who think otherwise, it will be interesting to watch the space in the next few weeks.
Also, if the Republican pull his citizenship then I'm going to fucking riot.
