Honestly it probably depends on whether we're counting original Muppet Show days or including the modern incarnations.

In the originals Gonzo is a plumber who likes to blow shit up whereas in the new stuff he's a capitalist with a waterless toilet factory and very unbalanced relationship with his chicken workforce.

Likewise, in the originals Janice is peace and love hippy type rockstar you could see being in the anti war movement and sending money to the Viet Cong. In the new series she's pretty much a 100% crystal loving individualist who starts a fascist TikTok cult - basically a new age MAGA type.

Honestly, watching modern Muppet stuff is like reading about what the Chicago 7 went on to do next.

Scooter posts on Hexbear, but doesn't actually do any socialist action IRL because he's always too busy with work.

It's funny to imagine Janice as like a Jane Fonda type who actually uses her celebrity to draw attention to real causes.

I think Statler and Waldorf are the old guard grumpy comrades with nothing positive to say about current events but you know they have their hearts in the right place.

Beaker probably has revolutionary thoughts given how Dr. Honeydew treats him.

The Muppet rock band probably has some comrades in it but they keep it quiet because there's a CHUD in the band too, and so we can't tell from the outside who is what.

Beaker should be an Iranian nuclear scientist. He'd be unassinatable.

It's Rowlf that's the chud

All of them. Sam the Eagle is doing a bit. They're a radical org disguised as a theatre troupe

Gonger is unionising the Furchester Hotel

Waldorf & Statler (the heckling pair) are posters that reside purely in c/slop and live off mocking literally everything.

Animal, dude just wants to drum and party.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago
