Well with new Jurassic park/world stuff coming out, there's 90s stuff going on, too.
Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

The are movies like Never look away(2018), Amanda(2018), Empire of Light(2022) and Perfect Days (2023) that where barely advertised, but worth watching all the way. Still somehow using an old movie or having more super hero is ok.
If talking animals was actually a common thing, I would be seeing a lot more movies.
We've been getting into more robots lately at our place. They have done a great job at creating memeraboe personalities with animated droids.
Superhero sequel 29 looks pretty good this year!
The Phoenician Scheme was fairly original.
Wes Anderson movies are both original and not at all original. The stories are original, but the style is always the same. That said, I love his style, but recently his movies have almost parodies of themselves. I haven't enjoyed his latest stuff.
A grenade, in this thread? Thank you, you're very kind.
Happy Cake Day!
And it is setting up to be a box office flop. Wes Anderson is apparently the only one who is allowed to make original scripts and even that seems to be wearing thin.
Judging movies by how much money they made some executive is the most uninteresting and capitalist way of thinking about films and stories.
The conversation is literally why these movies don't get made. And it's because the average movie viewer is uncultured swine who wants to turn their brain off for two hours.
I honestly don't see any AES countries spending big money on art pieces either.
Best thing is that internet and technology development has brought us masterpieces like this:
Because the movie industry wants money and the tubes keep paying to see these -- and don't pay to see complex, challenging, or odd films
Including the people that make comics like the above.
Raul Julia playing Mr Bison was peak cinema, no one can take away from us
Also Peter Weller playing robocop was peak acting. Dude made everyone feel all sorts of emotions just by lip gesticulation
ITT: movie opinions based on movie advertisements for the circle jerk instead of seeking movie announcements or even, retroactively, awards/nominations. But I get it, you know what the next Superman is going to be so it's easy to have an opinion on it without seeing it whereas the other half of the movies are original... but risky for your use of time.
Cue complaints about rigged awards stealing from better movies without acknowledging it's a showdown between multiple original movies.
Cue complaints about popcorn pricing as if you're forced to eat popcorn and eat popcorn for every home movie
Cue complaints about gross movie theaters as if this is really about the originality of movies instead of a likely attention span issue
I really want to watch We're All Gonna Die, but there's no way for me to see it and I'd love to support the creators.
Happy Cake Day!
Thanks!
also way too many prequels
I'd love to see a prequel leading to how the hell did Lucius and Narcisa Malfoy got married. How did they date? How did the families get along?
I bet my bottom dollar it was hilarious as fuck
I'm sure Adam Sandler could play Lucius dad
I don't know why people complain so much about this, weren't you like against capitalism and mindless consumption?
If you get one of those apps like HBO or Disney plus, you will have like, a catalogue that last years to watch everything
And about the popcorn? Do you realize you can cook that in your home as well right? Now you don't even need oil, with the air fryers
With the advent of Netflix type apps, you can just do movie nights with your family and friends extremely easy, that's a plus if you don't want to spend so much outside
And if you go the selfhost Route, it's even cheaper
So again why the complains?
I don't know why people complain so much about this, weren't you like against capitalism and mindless consumption?
The focus is on what is actually showing. We want to see art not this bullshit. And it's not like streaming services are different in this regard.
That's why we don't pay and waste money on streaming sevices either.
No home setup beats the theatre experience for me for most movies
