I've not read the book yet but I've seen the movie and it's enjoyable by itself, maybe not a great adaptation, but still it was not terrible

Exactly recently downloaded Libre on my PC and it looks dated and busy, plus not their fault but every Office doc I open in a Libre app looks bad, the formatting and fonts are off and every change I make it says it can't save in the office format and suggests converting the document to ODT format, that alone will scare away casual users who don't understand what an open format is

I've only seen these used in the movie 12 Angry Men. That movie feels so modern in many ways that when there's a scene in the washroom and one of the character uses these, I'm reminded that the movie came out in 1957

Hey apple when you are watching a reel on Instagram and you get a phone call, the Insta reel audio continues playing on top of the phone call audio, why don't you fix something as basic as that or give the iPhone a real fuckin file system or make it easier to interact with non Apple devices instead of stupid gimmicks like this. I'm not holding my breath though, just switching back to Android once this one dies

This so much, all the information in the world one click away online and most people just doom scroll nonsense. If money wasn't an issue I'd be a perpetual student, just learning things for the heck of it.

This is clearly a indoor Bazar with doors that lock on both ends, they leave them out cause it's not technically outside and ain't nobody breaking in to steal some books, shits heavy and probably doesn't sell for all that much on the black market

Funny but no casino would stop a drunk guy from losing money at the table

I got laid off in March as a software engineer 2 and since then I've hardly applied to many jobs, of the few I've applied to I got a handful of interviews which I couldn't even clear the first round of Leetcode test. I can barely solve 1 or 2 LC questions a day, and I've tried to read system design for a while but can't find any interest in it. Even if I solve the interview questions we'll I've been rejected, everything feels so pointless. I just want to play video games and watch movies till these darks days pass and there's another boon in tech hiring. But with AI it feels like many jobs won't ever come back. Should I consider changing careers or moving to another country. I don't think I have any real passion or talent for programming, but it's the only skill I have right now. I don't know what level of panic I should be feeling right now. I don't have any close friends or supportive family to talk to about any of this.

Hi, I recently got laid off from my current role, and I don't have a lot of time left to find another job. Find jobs that fit my work experience and applying to them takes a lot of time away from prepping for interviews. So I was thinking of hiring some 3rd party company that applies for jobs on your behalf based on the criteria you provide them. However, I am not familiar with these types of company and don't know which ones are legit and which are just taking your money and wasting it and giving back nothing in return. If anyone knows of a company that they think is legit and doesn't cost way too much, that would be helpful. I've read about some that also customize your resume to fit the role before applying, although I am not sure if this is a good or a bad thing. I live in the US and would prefer US based company but if there's a legit non US company, I am open to looking into them as well.

I came to Lemmy cause Reddit went to shit, so I get that people want to bash it and I also understand that most of the users of Lemmy are from the US and the shit show that's happening there right now, but I am absolutely tired of these 2 types of posts being the only thing in my feed, I open this app because I want to learn new interesting things, and maybe see some funny and creative stuff, there's enough negativity and stress in my life and I don't need more of that on my only social media app. How do I filter these topics from my feed and which communities can I join to improve my feed.
