Opposing genocide is antisemetic.

Also, and totally incidentally...

The top 5 most-streamed Eurovision 2025 entries on Spotify

Beyond the top contenders, the data also reveals the diverse range of musical styles and languages captivating Eurovision fans. Entries from Italy, the Netherlands, San Marino, and Estonia round out the top 5, showcasing the pan-European appeal of the competition.

  • “Bara Bada Bastu” by KAJ (Sweden)
  • “Volevo essere un duro” by Lucio Corsi (Italy)
  • “C’est La Vie” by Claude (Netherlands)
  • “Tutta L’Italia” by Gabry Ponte (San Marino)
  • “Espresso Macchiato” by Tommy Cash (Estonia)

Imagine throwing your wallets at Israeli artists when you can't bother to hear their performance.

Like everything else Israel... This shite aint organic IMHO

Zionist lobby and their acolytes infested everything, it will take a generation to clear the vermin out from western institutions

Maybe. But when the crash comes, it'll come hard.

That's what is going to be really frightening in the years to come. I can very easily see the endless artificial defense of Israel building up a broad public disgust year after year after year. And then one day, AIPAC reaches into the wallet and its empty. Or Americans just stop giving a shit about the Suez for whatever reason. Or it becomes more profitable to hate Israel than to love it.

Just like with our reversal of public opinion on Afghani Freedom Fighters and East Asian Business Investment and NAFTA. The neoliberal to fascist turn is going to be a whiplash.

And it's going to catch American Jews regardless of their support or opposition of Israel, putting them right up there with the treatment of Muslims and Hispanics. Trump's admin is already infested with these guys, practically begging to go full "Protocols of The Elders of Zion". It's going to make the Khmer Rouge look like a pillow fight.

Analysis is a bit hyperbolic but the thesis stands.

I think many American Jews know this too hence why they not all of them support israeli genocide out of self preservation.

But this train has left the station, we just don't know how bad the place we going gonna get.

And then one day, AIPAC reaches into the wallet and its empty.

Considering the huge pipeline of money that flows from the US taxpayers to Israel to AIPAC to the US politicians who keep the money flowing (with a big side channel to US weapons manufacturers and everyone with a slice of that), I'm not going to be holding my breath for that to happen. AIPAC won't run out of money before the USA runs out of money.

They learned it from the best you ever see what Americans do when they dont agree with a country thats less powerful than them? How many coups theyve run?

Why the hell is Israel even in Eurovision? They ain't in Europe last I checked, unless Eurovision is just a code word for white people performing.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

They're within the European Broadcasting Area like all countries adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea (plus some adjacent ones). Bring in the EBA is more important here than being in Europe is. There's no reason why Egypt or Iraq can't participate.

Okay, there is one – most Arab countries refuse to participate while Israel does. But if Israel didn't participate they'd be perfectly fine with showing up.

Oh, and there's one big exemption: Australia can participate because they've been such big ESC fans for so long that we invited them for the 60th one as a one-off and then decided to keep them in because they're cool. It's pretty wholesome, which is very much in tune with the spirit of the ESC.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago

That and Australia is an associate member of the EBU as it uses interoperable technologies.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

Another one is that Moroccanoil, a big sponsor of Eurovision, is an Israeli-owned company.

Oh, another European settler-colonial project? Wow, what a wacky coincidence.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

They're a European settler colonial project. I'm surprised Canada isn't part of Eurovision.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago

I mean Iceland's involved so I don't see any necessary problems.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

Possibly since Australia is in Eurovision

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

Eurovision has been absolutely stupid for about 10 years now.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 weeks ago

Between UK going after some chavs and Germans supporting the genocide because the law says so...

Talk about losing face in the world where Donald Trump is ruined American image for generations

These clown regimes can't help themselves.

Okay, I'm as pro palestine and anti-isrsel as any reasonable person, but this is simply misinformation.

They were not dropped for being anti-genocide, they were dropped because they very litterally called on people to murder their local Tory MP.

And imo outright calls for political assassinations are pretty reasonable grounds to cancel someone's shows.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago

Wow, that's why they got dropped?

Kneecap just keep getting cooler

I'm out of the loop. Even if there was fear of them promoting genocide at this years ESC they didn't do so. Or have I missed something?

They literally censored the booing and people protesting during the Israeli performance. When Spain talked about it, they threatened to ban Spain from broadcasting the competition. They even threatened to pull other broadcasters and publicly scolded other broadcast's hosts for mentioning “the mood” on the theater was not positive. There are allegations that the ESC manipulated or allowed Israel to manipulate the votes to give Israel a higher vote count than they really achieved. The song itself is actually about surviving the attack by Hamas on October 7 2023 that sparked the current episode of the war.

Thanks for the thorough comment. It made me think and I have to say I agree that Israel and the ESC are promoting genocide albeit not for the reasons you listed here. For me it is convincing that allowing a country who's government is committing a genocide to participate in a contest that is promoting itself as progressive and perceived as such by most, normalises the country and thus it's behaviour and thus the genocide which in turn promotes genocidal behaviour. I don't think that the reason they were allowed into the contest is to promote genocide though. I think it rather is because the ESC is afraid of being called antisemitic by Israel.
