Sokka literally wiped out a fleet of airships and dumped a bunch of dudes wearing metal armour into the ocean but yea, he definitely wouldn't advocate for violent resistance against an invading force

I haven't watched TLA in a while but I'm pretty sure Sokka specifically has no problem killing fire nation troops. I guess Katara does let that one guy who murdered her mother live and I can't remember any specific instances of her killing someone

Every character besides fucking Aang: "You should fucking kill the Fire Lord"

[–] [email protected] 40 points 3 months ago

Any violence by an oppressed people against their oppressor is legitimate self defense.

The Palestinians just need to learn magic Kung Fu, then white people might learn to sympathize

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 months ago

the Hamas the-boys-are-back-in-town was basically airbending.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, until the avatar is reborn as a Palestinian who can use his secret fourth type of magic kung-fu to mind-bend the genocidal thoughts out of the zionist leadership, the Palestinians are going to have to make do with returning unexploded bombs to the occupying forces.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago

Introducing the leadbender. Bends those genocidal thoughts right out of nazis heads.

"Secret tunnel! Secret tunnel! Under the hospital!" I think that's the way that song went.

Anyone with a brain can see that the gang in that show are the "terrorists".

[–] [email protected] 32 points 3 months ago (3 children)

I can't wait for the new avatar show to be even more shitlib than the last one.

will be hard to beat Legends of Korra, where killing an evil queen is an unforgivable crime but running a fascist empire with concentration camps and trying to conquer the world in a giant gundam is just a small slip up that can be redeemed

[–] [email protected] 21 points 3 months ago (1 children)

No you see the fascist dictator was just lonely and hurt!!1!1

[–] [email protected] 20 points 3 months ago (1 children)

She was just doing it because she loved her country and her people too much!

She girlbossed a little too close to the sun! Whom among us...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Here’s a lil lesbian kiss to make you overlook the pro-fascist messaging

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They didn't even kiss though

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Did I retcon that in my mind? Did they just hold hands?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

I'm pretty certain they just held hands, because having gay people in a children's cartoon was still considered icky

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago

Fuck, does this mean the Boxers comic I picked up yesterday might suck?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Oh yeah, and here I was hating the very premise of it going in on deciding that "Korra deciding to leave the spirit gates open is a disastrous mistake", like yes the entire show's theme on the necessity of the avatar between ATLA and Korra is that the next avatar has to keep on continually cleaning up the previous one's mess. But good lord I don't want to follow another character that doesn't learn this obvious lesson at all.

To all the people who are Teletubbies fans and support "Free Palestine" and/or Hamas, Po and Tinky-Winky NEVER supported murder as a form of resistance.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 months ago

A shameful error on the writers of teletubbies

Little red chevron popping up above the vacuum cleaner.

"Time for tubby bye bye"

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago

But the sun, on the other hand, would go on to be an al-Nusra cofounder.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

It's a cartoon for children...

[–] [email protected] 26 points 3 months ago (1 children)

For all the “I stand with Israel” ATLA fans. Katara and Sokka NEVER supported murder as a form of conflict resolution!

Why do you think you’re exempt?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I wonder what they think of the Jet episode, where he almost kills a bunch of random civilians because he doesn't like their people and Sokka and Katara are mad at him about it. You know, like a certain genocidal state does and their supporters regularly defend.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 months ago (3 children)

What's with the water overlay?

[–] [email protected] 23 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's used to indicate that the person sharing the post disapproves of it

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 months ago

I think it might also be to make it clear it's a screenshot and not a reblog or something idk tumblr culture has always been kinda inscrutable to me

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago

I think it's more likely used to prevent reverse-image-search or break repost detection.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

its very easy for a screenshot of a tumblr post to blend in with the rest of post and appear as if the screenshot is your own opinion. we drown posts to make it clear that it is not written by the author of the main post (and that its bullshit)

[–] [email protected] 19 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

i almost felt dizzy trying to read that text

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago

Okay? It's children's media. I'm okay with children's fantasy media remaining optimistic about the possibility of overcoming tyranny without loss of life. That doesn't mean that the allies were wrong to fight Hitler with tanks, guns, and bombs.

[–] Afterthought_C 6 points 3 months ago

Liberals will complain that Aang did not kill Ozai but then turn around and say that marginalised people should not take any action against their real-life fire nations.
