This is a follow-up to my previous post, viewable from https://lemmy.world/comment/13311695 before the magazine at https://fedia.io/m/fediverse was deleted.
I just noticed it now, but it seems like ernest is back. There's a kbin v2 on github that he created recently, https://github.com/ernestwisniewski/kbin_v2 and in his about-me over at https://ernest.dev/about-me/ he talks about his move to the Netherlands (alas, he's also noted that he's no longer involved with kbin).
kbin.social is still down, at least for me, and based on what he's said elsewhere he might not be able to fix it...
(See https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core/issues/1383#issuecomment-1999046 where he says, "I have been away from home for a long time now and do not have all accesses.")
Because I'd love for kbin.social to return. Or, failing that, because I'd really like to grab a copy of my old data from kbin.social and repost it.
For reference (since it was deleted), here's the original post I made, back on 2024-11-07,
I did a WHOIS on the domain out of boredom, https://ca.godaddy.com/whois/results.aspx?itc=dlp_domain_whois&%3Bdomain=kbin.social
But noticed this:

So even though the site is still down, somebody with access to the domain registrar is renewing the domain for it, and did so just recently.
