It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to [email protected]

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

Liberal ideology is when you love losing and hate to accomplish things. The more you lose, the more liberal you are. Sorry sweaty, I don't make the rules biden-troll

This is excellent, I've been ranting for years about what I've been calling latent Protestantism, the tendency among Amerikkkan atheists and nonchristian spiritual types to replicate the mores and belief structures of Christianity.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’ve been calling myself culturally Christian for this reason. I’ve done a lot of work to root out the toxicity of my upbringing but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t fundamentally of that culture.

Eliminate the four olds (old ideas, old culture, old customs, and old habits)

Love this one. This was what got me out of the Reddit "leftist" phase and got me to consider more serious leftist discussion and thought

No, because those actually did something and reduced carbon output, unlike carbon offsets which are just financial scams.

Indeed, but it is fun to imagine a world where oil and gas companies fund ecoterrorists to reach their net zero emission goals.

EKO is the next generation in radical enterprise efficiency. Our industry-disrupting sustainability processes are the result of decades of iterative design and study. We guarantee that a 3 month consultation will result in a minimum 80% reduction in operating costs.

It's that instant and immediate a default delivery method, with a coating of smug smarminess. smuglord

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 years ago

true ecoterrorism has never been tried

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (3 children)

If eco terrorism doesn't work explain Final Fantasy VII

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 years ago

AVALANCHE did nothing wrong

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Did FFXII (12) do ecoterroism also like FFVII (7)?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

No, I just typed the wrong letter lol. Fixed

Edit: although hot take, XII is a better game than VII.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Xii is definitely the most underrated FF game

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Additional hot take: X & X-II are the most overrated FF games. Fuck blitzball

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

As a backseat player, I wanna fight you.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

As a proud beta male, normally I would run from a fight but I think I can take anyone who would be upset about me shit talking FFX.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You're fortunate I don't care that much about the franchise as a whole, especially not enough to argue past the Sepiroth fanart getting exhausting in its quantity in my Livejournal days.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (4 children)

I've always been a Dragon Quest guy which makes shit posting about FF way more fun. I've literally only played FF 7, 10, and 12 lol.

Edit) and 15 but that almost feels like it doesn't count

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

15 is one of my favorite DMC games.

Even though i like X, its probably the only one that is overrated at all. I think most of them seem to be rated about right, except xii like i said.

I'll have to agree to disagree on blitzball though, its awesome. Definitely sucks at first until you fire most of the original team and recruit a bunch of ringers though lol

Came here to post the thing an-tifa avalanche anti-shinra-action

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It is true that targeted assassinations wouldn't work though. Every ghoul can be easily replaced with minimal disruption to the system.

Eco terrorism like blowing up pipelines may yet work

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I'm talking like a lot of targeted assassinations. Make the average life expectancy of an oil exec measured in days

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The point at which it's enough assassinations to work is the point that it stops being targeted assassinations and just starts being a revolution.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 years ago (2 children)

That's my kind of slippery slope

Carbon tax

Good thing multinational companies are famously bad at dodging taxes.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Dropping people is satisfying in a way piecemeal change never could be. All I ever need

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah yes, eco terrorism has been very wide spread for centuries.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

To a lib, anything beyond the current news cycle is a long history
