The shows are cheap to produce, meaning they don't need the same number of viewers as a traditional TV production would, as a result. That's why there are so many of them. You can blame the current head of Warner Brothers Discovery, David Zaslav, for their proliferation.

I can understand why someone would be curious about the lives of established celebrities like your Osbournes or Kardashians, or the inherent struggles of a family where most of them are little people or whatever
These are just generic rich suburban assholes
They're fantasy shows. People love to imagine having enough money to support a family with some left for personal hijinks.
I ask the same thing about cop shows.
Those at least hold the promise of the drama and excitement of seeing quote unquote bad guys and wrongdoers getting what's coming to them
There's the CSI effect, where the depictions of police give a false impression of their effectiveness.
Reality TV has a similar effect. It's distracting you with something.
