This week the dad gets into a fight with the contractor he hired to build a private gym on his enormous backyard and the mom wants a nosejob. Child #13 is unhappy at polo practice

Those at least hold the promise of the drama and excitement of seeing quote unquote bad guys and wrongdoers getting what's coming to them

There's the CSI effect, where the depictions of police give a false impression of their effectiveness.

Reality TV has a similar effect. It's distracting you with something.
