I don't have any particular advice for dealing with someone going down the nutjob rabbit hole but you might want to watch this: https://youtu.be/4xGawJIseNY?si=3wSkuLQIsi6PnPTT - it does the best job that I've seen of breaking down how and why people fall for that garbage.
I already know without even clicking the link that this is The Alt Right Playbook. Excellent series, well worth watching in its entirety.
