I don't quite understand, it seems like this would just make the process more effort to stand still. Is it to to be half ready for a cop to frisk you?

What I mean is, the CEO for my hospital gave himself a $250,000 raise last year. If not moren I can't remember the exact numbers from ProPublica (it's a non-profit so Upper management has wages posted there).

Yet,the staff wages were not raised because the hospital "didn't have the money." This was during COVID.

The hospital actually had significantally more millions that year than they had in the past. And they still chose to forgo the raises that year.

This is only one example.

Many of those in upper management of a corporation continue to get significant raises while the working class may get a 3% raise - if they get a raise at all. And the way that inflation is rising, the working class end up getting LESS money despite the raise.

Why?

This might sound strange but I cannot stand sunny weather, it makes me so depressed and anxious. If I wake up and the sun is shining into my room it literally makes me wanna go back to sleep. On the contrary, cloudy days make me feel so content and calm. I actually feel even more productive when the weather is bad.

I have a theory that this is caused by depression (which I am already getting help for)- I think I associate the overall vibe of a sunny day with having to be productive and happy therefore, when I am not capable of being in such a state I feel guilty. Whereas, cloudy days are often seen as more laid back days so it feels good to know that the world slows down for a while when the weather is grey and I don't have to feel the pressure of everyday life.

This is something I want to get over but I don't know how. I literally got a vitamin D deficiency because I don't get enough sunlight exposure lmao. Got any advice besides 'sit outside' or 'get over it'?

I'm in my 40's but I remember LOVING Dominos back in the 90's! They used more toppings, and you could see the melted strings of cheese when you took a bite! Now all i get is dry pizza with hardly any cheese! It's just not the same anymore!

Basically the title. I don’t understand why if nuclear weapons and explosions are so dangerous and cause all this damage to the environment and nuclear fallout why the places in Japan that the US nuked are seemingly fine but, Chernobyl can’t be lived in for the next several thousand lifetimes. Maybe i’m just ignorant or something. But I really just don’t understand.

El Paso Walmart shooter agrees to pay more than $5.5 million in restitution in federal case

How is he expected to pay this when he's in jail? I dont think many people have that amount of money in their bank. Does he litetally pay them the money he earns in prison for the rest of his life?

On a side note the state is looking for the death penalty, so that kinda puts a damper on working it off lol. Im just confused on how he can pay this and those people get their money.

I mean like cooking chicken breast, leaving it in a plate on the counter (so not refrigerated), and eating it 12 hours later, without re-heating it? And how about 24 hour later, but reheating it in the microwave?

I lost my wife to CoViD and I have no clue about cooking stuff, so forgive my really stupid question, I don't wanna get food poisoning or something like that.

Basically just had a habit of heavy drinking for the past couple years and decided to quit largely for weight loss reasons. I was prepared for some sort of withdrawal but nothing came.

Edit to add

Never had any negative life consequences up to this point. No hangovers, no regrettable behavior, no health problems .

I've been in situations where the vet in question was annoyed by the saying telling me "serving is a duty that doesn't need to be thanked for". But then there's others who get annoyed if you don't as if it's their natural right for enlisting.

I don't want to single a person out if they obviously don't want to be. But I don't want to ignore what a vet has done either for the country.

My little niece just started going to school and asked me why it was 5 days a week with an emphasis on only have 2 DAYS OFF and I couldn't answer. I understand that now days nobody can afford to work less, but that's not really my question. How did 5 days a week ever become standard? I recently took a personal day on a Friday to help my mom get ready for a funeral. I did house work and got a lot of cleaning done and by Sunday everything was done and it had been a really long time since I felt that way. I don't have any kids, but grew up in a time where only my dad had to work and my mom could care for the kids. My heart goes out to ppl that have kids because it's not like that anymore. It's extremely hard to pursue happiness with 2 days off of work a week. Who's idea was this in the first place? I don't think life should be like this for anyone. It's not really living at all.

I was signing up to get a flu shot I saw advertised at my local doctors office, and was kinda shocked to see they would require this information. It was a google form where you can’t skip, and it says “invalid answer” when I tried writing N/A. I just don’t think it’s any of their business to have that kind of information, lest they treat me differently for it at a later date. I don’t know why this is appropriate, nor why they would even have any real use for it? Anyone know why they would ask for this?

I just sort of had the "shower thought" because I have not seen a move display LESS emotional range or facial expressions than "Love at First Sight."

Line delivery was extremely stale and lacking nuance, one could use the term robotic

Script was REALLY bad

There was ZERO pupil dilation throughout the movie, even when shooting close up, near the beginning

All Haley Lu Richardson did with their face, LITERALLY, in every scene, instead of displaying ANY emotional range, was smile the same smile. Most other actors had similarly lacking range of facial expression. I've never seen anything like it...as if the ENTIRE cast was on muscle relaxants.

Thank you for your thoughts and feedback

I’m tired all the time. There are people in my life who have done horrible things to myself and others, and I can’t even find the energy to hate them, I’m just disappointed in them. I WISH I had the apparent level of energy that hateful people have.

I went to a few concerts recently and I have no intention of going to any more. They were awful. It’s far too loud, way too expensive and I don’t think live music sounds good. I look around and everyone seems to be having a good time while I’m sitting there miserable and hoping I don’t get permanent hearing damage from the music. Why do people enjoy concerts? It just seems like a massive waste of money given how expensive tickets are.

German Americans are the largest ethnic group in the U.S however I’ve rarely come across an American with a German surname refer to themselves as “German”.

Whereas I’ve come across Italian Americans, Cuban Americans, Irish Americans, Mexican Americans etc and people within those groups would classify themselves as the country of their parents/grandparents’ origin first.

Anyway how comes Italian Americans, Mexican Americans & Irish Americans have more visibility in comparison to German Americans?

There’s an Irish bar within every corner of the U.S it seems, and Italian & Mexican cuisine you can pretty much find anywhere, not to mention there a lot of neighbourhoods that are unapologetically Italian, Mexican etc.

This is the best way I could phrase it, if I’m wrong about this I apologize.

I live in the south eastern United States. I started going to Asian markets because I wanted to pick up some ingredients and learn how to make some of my favorite dishes since going to restaurants has become a less affordable option.

Now I'm there every week. It's become one of my main stores to shop at. Today I bought a package of frozen udon noodles from Japan, enough for 3 meals for 4.30 cents. A pack of mochi balls from Taiwan for 1.99. A giant jar of kimchi for 5 dollars. I'm sitting here drinking some soju from south Korea, it's pretty good. 6 dollars for a bottle. And their fresh produce section is cheaper than Aldi.

What I can't wrap my head around is how can I buy food and spices from the other side of the planet for cheaper than food produced on the same continent I live on?

I've never liked soda. I hated the sizzling feeling in my mouth and throat. I've never understood how people can drink it, it's just unpleasant. I'm not trying to judge people, you can drink whatever you want, but I'm just trying to understand how it doesn't bother other people. Is it kind of like how people love the burn of spicy food? Is it possibly a sensory issue for me? I am a bit sensitive to textures sometimes.
