Original Title: Why is it people can go their whole lives doing good towards other people, being completely selfless and helping thousands of not millions of others along their journey, do one wrong thing, and suddenly everyone thinks they're "showing their true colors"?

As if their 30+ year commitment to doing good was all a front and their one possibly irrational and poorly thought out decision was suddenly shining light on "the monster within"? How does an entire life of good become so quickly dismissed over one mistake?

I see it all the time, I'll see an actor and they look say upper 20's, low 30's max, then you look at their IMDb or wiki page and they are like 55... how??

Yeah I know rich, surgery, diet whatever, but what specifically manages that kind of perpetual youth?

In a war between North Korea and The United States, how fast could The United States defeat North Korea, without any nuclear weapons involved.

From my understanding North Koreas military has very outdated equipment and weapons, however I have heard that they have quite the artillery.

Obviously the United States has a very modern and advanced military, and from my understanding the training is quite good compared to that of North Korea.

Would North Korea, without any assistance, stand any chance whatsoever against a full scale war with the United States (the United States without any assistance from other countries, likewise North Korea without any aid).

I've tried asking. I've tried demonstrating. I've tried cleaning with them. For the kids, I've tried chore charts with and without rewards or punishments for compliance. I've gotten on my knees and begged!

But still I'm the one to put away toys, games, dishes, food, art supplies, tools, laundry, trash, books, and more. Because if I don't do it, no one will. (I've experimented with leaving things alone, and the stuff stays untouched for days, weeks, or even months.)

I don't expect a museum-spotless house. I just want my family to clean up the messes they make and put things back in place.

Is this just me? I’ve never/would never physically harm anyone, but I always find work very irritating and it gets to the point of me eventually blowing up. From time to time I become frustrated with coworkers who are either purposely slacking off and it affecting me, or they’re just incompetent and affecting me. The more I learn about the business operations, the more I get bothered by issues with them. If I try to bring things up and suggest changes, they get ignored. Eventually I get to a boiling point where I become hyper emotional and start yelling without really thinking about the fact that I’m yelling until it’s too late. This has been a pattern with a lot of my jobs.

At the moment I have a remote job. I can lose my shit all I want in the privacy of my own room and nobody will ever know about it. But I have no idea how I could survive a job longer than a couple years if I had to work in an office with others

I'm split about this. I usually go to this restaurant (nothing fancy, basically a diner) to do school work when I know I will fall asleep if I stay home.

The place is huge, I always take up a table for two in a corner out of the way, I order dinner with no drink and just chill there with my textbooks. Two of the waiters are lovely and always greet me warmly, so I make sure to tip well. But there is a waitress that is very frosty and always approaches asking if I will order anything else, so I always wonder if I'm overstaying.

Note, the place is huge and it's never even near crowded or at full capacity when I'm there.

Let me start off by saying that I don’t have an eating disorder, I just NEVER get hungry, I eat about one meal a day. Some days it feels like a straight up chore. I do drink high calorie protein drinks to make up some of the calories and nutrients I miss but I would rather change this mentality altogether and eat like a regular person. Recommendations are gratefully appreciated:) Thank you!

Long story short. I'm 30ish and married. Like, shouldn't they be hovering less now? My dad and mother call me EVERY DAY. They panic if I don't answer. Any tips to make them relax a little?!? Are everyone's parents like this or is it just mine?

I own a fast food concession building at a beach and this is my first year. I had 10 workers (all 17 & 18 year olds) and only four of them were consistent with schedules, worked great and could be left to themselves without me needing to micro-manage them. They are all good kids that are pleasant and athletes. They all want to come back next year, but not all of them I want back for the sake of my business.

Also one of them forgot to limit the deep fryer almost burning the place down, and burned his hair off on a propane grill. (So his is easier to explain as to why he’s not coming back)

if i’m on a flight I have to see out my window. I have to see how far the ground it. if we’re in clouds or not. i have to see where in the country and know what city we are above. how the weather and sun are. if not i freak out.

but almost no one put their window up. especially when you have a chosen ASSIGNED window seat. why would you choose that if you don’t want it up

you’re literally flying in the sky. why don’t you want to see what’s out your window? it’s literally the coolest shit ever.

i can’t even relax on a flight unless i can see where the plane is. i don’t get it how do you not feel weird not knowing where the plane is moving and you don’t even know where it is

how do you want to fly in a dark cylinder in the sky with random bumps not knowing where you’re at? just randomly landing without and awareness of where the plane is at. it’s like a jump scare

I'm sorry if I sound bad, but I don't understand all of this trans thing. Do people suddenly decide they want to be women and start dressing up as women, or vise versa? Or inventing new genders, I don't know what this is all about and I don't understand one bit.

Is this some sort of new trend that I'm not aware of??? I observed her when she didn't know I was watching and nothing inappropriate was going on. Why would anyone spend money for this? I just don't understand.

I think the polished acrylic nails that are so long that you cannot functionally use your hands are ridiculous and not attractive in the least. I also cannot get beyond the yuck factor for all the gross gunk that I knows gets underneath nails. Does anyone actually think they are attractive?

I'm asking interested in men's opinions particularly but also curious what women think. I have heard a lot of women talk about their nails or the manicures they have gotten but I have never heard a single man mention it. Count me curious.

I am a client facing project manager for a construction-technology company and have worked here for a year. We recently landed a project with a high-profile customer that I will be leading. The president (worked here 25 years), the VP (worked here 13 years) and the regional director (worked here 9 years) all insisted they join me on a conference call with the customer for the project kickoff.

This is a smaller company and it is in an industry I was not previously familiar with, so I have asked a lot of questions over the past year. The company makes it a point to let everyone know that the doors are open to talk to the president or VP about anything, and I anytime I have asked them a question regarding the actual products they have no idea.

We sit down for the meeting with the customer, and the president, VP, and regional director go on this long tangent about what an amazing customer they are and how good of a team we will be together, basically just kissing their ass. The customer starts asking technical questions and then they just go silent and expect me to answer everything. It then clicked with me that they literally know NOTHING about the product we sell, how it works, how to use it, anything. In the past, most company leaders I have known or worked for have known their products inside and out!

Is this normal in business or do I just worked for a bunch of dummies?

Ok, so here's the info about the question above.

27 yr old guy. When I go to a bar, or any place that has alot of people, I don't get hit on or receive any attention. This week I have received inheritance from my maternal grandfather, (only grandkid on my mom side.) I have received his wedding ring. So I started to wear it or around my neck on a necklace to remember him by. Yesterday I wore it on my hand, and went to a bar, and started to notice that alot of women were coming to me and talk. Why is this happening?

I've been sober for a few months, and I've been on my own as well, trying to stay out of trouble.

Buy I can't help but wonder, no matter what state I live in, who I meet, free drugs just end up in front of me, and opportunities to do shady shit just run into me. Whether my dealer thinks I'm chill, or friends think I'm cool enough to share with, parties, etc...it's almost impossible to avoid! (Not impossible to resist, but it makes it harder for sure)

I never ACTIVELY seek it out, but I also tend to go with the flow of life.

Tldr: anyone else surprised just how often free drugs are thrown around?

I saw a post about gaming unpopular opinions, one commenter said changing historically accurate video games for wokeness points, and one commenter said that anyone unironically complaining about wokeness has been brainwashed by the right.

I’ve seen this with historical dramas or even that Cleopatra documentary where people were complaining about changes to the stories or characters being for wokeness. But in the case of the Cleopatra documentary, the creator even said they changed the characters for political reasons, and that series was panned by almost everyone.

Of course, woke has a variety of interpretations, but in the sense of making changes for politically correct motivations, would critiquing it just be right wing brainwashing?

That isn’t at all to say it isn’t used as a right wing buzzword, as things like having a female or non white lead doesn’t automatically make something woke, Spiderverse being a great example, as that exists as just a story.

But is it extreme to think that it’s always brainwashing to complain about it being a problem?

Lmao this is always so weird to hear. I've heard something like this from 5 different women so far.

One time, it was a girl that my black friend liked. And she said "I had a black abusive boyfriend, so I won't date another black guy." Like...huh?

Another time, I was talking to a group of friends about preferences in people, and one girl says "I've dated a black guy before. It's not for me." Like wtf does that even mean?!

Lol I just found this so ridiculously funny and odd. Does anyone have any thoughts on statements like these?

Edit: Just to clarify, I find this weird because when you say that you don't like certain types of people, it's normally categorized by personality, appearance, maturity, financial stability, etc. These things aren't inherently tied to a specific race except appearance in most cases.

But then, why would you even date someone that you aren't attracted to in the first place?

I went on a blind date set-up by a mutual friend of ours and we had dinner. We were having a good time and then she just randomly asked me to rate her on a scale from 1 to 10. I asked in what fashion? Physical appeareance/personality/fashion. She said just overall, from what you have gathered about me so far, what rating would you give me? I told her that I was going to be honest and not sugercoat anything and she said that's what she prefers.

Now, she was a beautiful girl with a bubbly personality but I didn't want to boost her ego too much so I said 7. She looked offended but I said that she had the chance to improve her rating as the night went along. However, after I said "7", her energy completely changed and the rest of the date was wack.

There is a lady in her late 30s who’s son (middle school) is friends with my son. We attended a sport event at the school, and she waved us over to sit by her and at some point made the comment that she likes to sit in that spot because if she’s lucky she can see the boys getting changed in the locker room. She is also a substitute teacher. I have also heard her husband make a comment about how his daughter (under6) could probably end up being a stripper one day and she’s trouble because she looks good in anything.

All of these things make my stomach churn but I don’t like these people, and I may be bias and just making it into something it’s really not.

A quick google search shows that somewhere around 5-7 percent of trials end in a hung jury. Why is this so rare?

I feel like in today’s world getting 2 randomly selected people to agree on something is a flip of the coin. So getting 12 people to agree on something would be like flipping a coin eleven times and getting heads every time, roughly a .04% chance. So by that logic 99.96% of trials should end in a hung jury.

Obviously this percentage would change a little when you factor in that a certain amount of cases have so much evidence on one side or the other that it’s almost impossible for there not to be a unanimous decision, but to get from a 99.96% chance all the way down to the 5-7% hung jury rate would mean an astronomical amount of cases would need to be like that. I don’t know the exact math but it seems like well over 90% of all cases would have to be that way to get that drastic of a decrease.

This seems illogical because if it was that obvious given the evidence then the defense or prosecution should realize this beforehand and take a plea deal over going to a trial they know they’ll lose.

I know my math might not be completely accurate, and I’m not accounting for every variable, but it still seems like the hung jury rate should be way higher than 6.2%.

I am starting a new job and when reading the 'rules' of the office one was to call people by their correct pronouns.

However obviously as a new person I don't know any of their pronouns. I don't want to assume in case I get it wrong so how am I meant to know what ones to use.

I don't want to just go up to them and ask as well.

I dont listen to rogan, I am not dating lol, but I keep seeing "55% of Gen Z find listening to joe rogan a turn off/red flag" posts and I've seen snippets and shit of whatever youtube shorts throws in my face etc and I havent seen anything that's red flag material so now I'm here asking, is it the stereotype of the viewers that are red flags themselves OR is it actually joe rogan?

What's the deal? Wheres the red flag come from and is it justified? And please, only answer if you are at least trying to avoid bias to some degree and preferably if you have watched more of his show than I have otherwise why answer at all.
