I've tried asking. I've tried demonstrating. I've tried cleaning with them. For the kids, I've tried chore charts with and without rewards or punishments for compliance. I've gotten on my knees and begged!
But still I'm the one to put away toys, games, dishes, food, art supplies, tools, laundry, trash, books, and more. Because if I don't do it, no one will. (I've experimented with leaving things alone, and the stuff stays untouched for days, weeks, or even months.)
I don't expect a museum-spotless house. I just want my family to clean up the messes they make and put things back in place.
